Shadow Warrior is bringing back classic FPS
As a kid, I didn’t grow up playing a lot of games. But one game I did play growing up was a first person shooter by the name of Duke Nukem 3D, and my god was that good. Granted ,the graphical fidelity back then is nothing to boast about, but the gameplay was simply fantastic.
Players are dropped off in a map and they are given free rein to explore with “puzzles” to solve. Players were not limited to a two weapon system or forced to play through a story campaign consisting of a “single corridor”. You actually get to explore and go off the reservation and find secret areas. The game also makes it challenging by making ammo scarce and not making the player Wolverine.
It seems like modern day first person shooters have lost the spark which once thrilled the fan base of games such as Duke Nukem 3D and Doom. FPS these days are all about the competitive multiplayer and gamers are quick to forget about the single player experience. Don’t get me wrong, there are good first person shooters out there but it is not quite the same.
However, all that is about to change with Shadow Warrior. The more avid gamers will notice that Shadow Warrior is actually an old title, and that it is available on Steam for $9.99. And you would be right. But the Shadow Warrior which I’m referring to is actually a modern take on the title. It is currently being developed by Flying Wild Hog and Devolver Digital in an attempt to re-imagine a classic FPS for the modern gamer.
So for all the FPS fans out there, get this game on your radar if you haven’t already done so.
Shadow Warrior is scheduled to be release this Fall for PC only.
