Build a Robot Utopia in the Solarpunk Game Rusthaven From the Crab God Developer

Find, repair, and protect robots in this cozy adventure game. Keep an eye out for the solarpunk game Rusthaven, made by the developers of Crab God!

Chaos Theory Games is no newbie when it comes to the indie scene, having released the acclaimed Crab God back in 2024. It stood as a game that valued both fun and the chance to impact the world, working in tandem with the dots.eco conservation effort. Now they seek to something similar in their upcoming game, Rusthaven.

The game was just recently announced, and seeks to make a similar yet separate impact on the world like Crab God. Rusthaven is all about recovery and hope, of robots seeking to rebuild and thrive in a broken world. It’s a hopeful take on how we can truly live in the future through connecting with one another and forging unbreakable bonds.

A ROBOTIC COMMUNITY IN THE SKY

Taking place in an overgrown post apocalyptic world, you play as a robotic captain of an airship. Finding your old friend Bipp destroyed, you take your airship across the world. As you travel about, you find both old tech and other bots in their own situation, and help them in fixing their problems.

With the game being about hope and second chances, you can befriend and help the broken robots you take on. You can build personalized rooms to house them on the ship as you fix and upgrade them. You fuel this through resources, which are attained as you fly across the world.

As you fix each robot, they will thank you by assisting you in your adventure. This includes upgrading your ship and getting abilities that can help you as you grow closer and closer to them. Your ship goes from being a simple piece of transport, to a veritable village of a close found family trying to help one another for a better future.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM THIS SOLARPUNK GAME

  • A cosy skyship base that grows with your rescued crew
  • Robot companions with hobbies, personal arcs, and dreams
  • Chill exploration of a hopeful post-collapse world
  • Tactile salvage and crafting of retro human tech
  • Deep customisation of rooms, ship systems, and decorations
  • A focus on community, care, and belonging

Read original article here:

This sounds like a really intriguing concept! I love the blending of cozy gameplay with a solarpunk aesthetic; it’s such a refreshing theme compared to the usual dystopian settings we often see in games. The focus on repairing and protecting robots adds a unique twist too. I’m a huge fan of games that mix creativity with gameplay mechanics, so I’ll definitely be keeping an eye out for Rusthaven.

Crab God was a fun experience, so it’ll be interesting to see how Chaos Theory Games expands on their mechanics and storytelling with this new project. I’m all for indie games that bring fresh ideas to the table, especially in genres that promote positivity and environmental themes. What do you all think? Are you excited for Rusthaven or do you have other cozy games on your radar?

I like the idea of a game where the goal is to repair robots and help them continue their life. Many games about a destroyed world focus on fighting or survival, but this one seems calmer. The concept of building a community on an airship sounds interesting to me. If every robot has its own story and personality, that can make the experience more meaningful. I also like that helping them gives practical upgrades to the ship. It makes the relationship feel useful but also emotional. The room customization also caught my attention because it lets players show creativity. I enjoy games where I can slowly improve a base over time. The solarpunk style is also refreshing because it focuses on hope instead of only destruction. I will probably add it to my wishlist just to keep track of it. I am curious to see gameplay later because the idea is promising, but execution will matter.

This seems perfect for winding down after the kids go to bed. Fly around, pick up sad robots, fix them, give them a room, watch them get happy and help you back. No pressure, no fail states, just nice progression. The overgrown world looks pretty without being scary. I like that it's hopeful instead of everything-is-doomed. Chaos Theory made Crab God which my son enjoyed watching, so maybe we'll play this one together later. Room customization will keep me busy too—I love rearranging stuff. Solid wishlist add. Looking forward to it.

Love this concept. Broken robots, airship home, fixing them up, making friends, decorating rooms, exploring a hopeful world. Simple but sounds super satisfying. The solarpunk angle feels natural here—no forced eco messages, just rebuilding together. Crab God team knows how to make games with heart. Wishlisting right away. Hope they add fishing minigames and little side activities because those always make cozy games better. Can't wait to see more.

People always complain cozy games are "too soft" but that's exactly why I play them. Rusthaven looks like it leans hard into that softness—community, care, belonging, second chances—and I'm here for every second of it. Robots that have dreams and hobbies? That's the good stuff. Turning a lonely airship into a thriving little village of misfit bots is the kind of story I want in my downtime. No need for epic stakes or combat; just quiet moments of helping each other. If this releases and people call it boring, ignore them. This is for the people who want peace. Already wishlisted and I'll be annoying everyone in the comments when more info drops.

The part that interests me the most is the airship village idea. I enjoy games where your base slowly becomes alive with characters. Watching a place grow from empty to full of life is satisfying to me. The robots helping improve the ship is also a smart system. It means every rescue has a gameplay reward. I also like the detail about hobbies and dreams for the robots. Small personality details can make characters memorable. I do wonder how large the world will be though. Exploration works best when there are many locations to discover. If the world feels small, it might limit the experience. Still, the theme of rebuilding and helping others is something I respect. It is a positive message that many games do not try anymore. I hope they show more gameplay soon so players can understand how the exploration actually works.

I like calm exploration games, so I immediately looked at the features list carefully. Fishing, crafting, decorating rooms, and exploring the world are all activities I enjoy in games. If Rusthaven balances those systems well, it could become a relaxing experience. I also think the solarpunk theme is refreshing. Many post collapse worlds look dark and hopeless, but this one seems green and full of life. That difference alone makes me curious. I also respect when developers focus on community and belonging as the main message. Games can still be entertaining while also encouraging positive ideas. I will probably wishlist it just so I remember to check it later. 2027 is still far away, so many things can change during development.
