In the opening prologue, Lara Croft and her colleague, Jonah, are on the hunt for a hidden city in a hazardous and icy mountain region. Many of Croft’s party are too exhausted to continue on, but Lara and Jonah continue the dangerous trek. The video shows off some of the climbing mechanics at players’ disposal throughout the game, as Lara nearly falls to her death in the hazardous conditions. Eventually, the two make it to safety and continue their search. They are looking for ruins before someone else finds them. The epic climb continues, and Croft nearly falls to her death multiple times. She manages to make it to horizontal ground, but then an avalanche ensues. So Croft has to run for her life. It looks like Croft barely manages to escape the avalanche and crumbling mountain with her life.
The story then flashes back to some time earlier. Some hints are given to the game’s villains with an ancient organization called the Trinity, who appear to be similar to the Illuminati. It seems Lara’s father was doing research on immortality, and Trinity was on his trail. Croft then seems to pick up her father’s search where he left off. Croft’s search then takes her to Syria, where she encounters some heavy enemy resistance. Some of this footage was revealed before in earlier videos.
Rise of the Tomb Raider arrives on Xbox One and Xbox 360 on November 13 as a timed platform exclusive. The game will be released on PlayStation 4 about a year later for a holiday 2016 release. The Windows PC release will be launched in early 2016.
