Oni Press’s October 2025 solicitations deliver a packed slate of ambitious new comics, returning favorites, and genre-spanning surprises. From paranormal thrillers to holiday horror, this month marks a high point in the publisher’s push into prestige storytelling, creator-driven visions, and resurrected cult properties.
High Strangeness Leads With Paranormal Prestige
Topping this month’s releases is High Strangeness Book One – 1967, a bold collaboration between SpectreVision (Elijah Wood’s production house), Oni Press, and a revolving creative cast. This debut is inspired by documented cases of paranormal phenomena, beginning with a haunting tale set in 1960s Indiana. Written by Daniel Noah and Chris Condon with art by Dave Chisholm, the issue mixes UFO conspiracy, Men in Black intrigue, and eerie Americana. Each installment also includes an essay from Euphomet’s Jim Perry exploring real-world cases. Priced at $7.99 for a 40-page prestige-format release, the series is poised to become a cult hit.
Another one-shot of note is Cult of the Lamb: Schism Special #1, expanding the chaotic digital cult phenomenon with a 48-page new story. With famine threatening the Lamb’s growing flock, tensions rise and new challengers emerge. Alex Paknadel and Troy Little return to dissect belief, power, and indoctrination with twisted charm.
EC Comics Revival Brings Bloody Anthologies and Western Mayhem
Oni Press continues its homage to EC Comics with Outlaw Showdown #1, a 56-page Western revenge anthology from creators like Brian Azzarello, Tony Moore, and Ann Nocenti. The oversized format and variant-heavy presentation pay tribute to EC’s golden age while reimagining the genre for modern readers.
Meanwhile, the monthly horror anthology Catacomb of Torment #4 slashes forward with tales of twisted murders and supernatural revenge. With writers John Arcudi, Patricia A. Jackson, and Amy Roy at the helm, the book blends black humor with EC-style horror theatrics.
Science fiction horror fans also get a new issue of the Eisner-nominated Cruel Universe 2 #3, offering dystopian tales from Cecil Castellucci, Sarah Gailey, and Rian Hughes. These anthologies prove Oni’s EC line is more than nostalgia, it’s a platform for boundary-pushing creators and experimental formats.
Holiday Horror and Cow-Based Justice Bring Variety
In a tonal shift, Yuletide #1 launches a holiday horror-adventure in the vein of The Goonies and Goosebumps. Created by George Northy and Rachele Aragno, it explores the ancient, monstrous roots of Christmas as three teens in a Pennsylvania town accidentally unleash a pagan darkness.
More lighthearted, but no less intense, is Wild West C.O.W.-Boys of Moo Mesa #2, concluding the revival of the cult 1990s animated series. Moo Montana faces betrayal and justice in Cowtown, courtesy of writer Matt Hotson and artist Juan Gedeon.
Hotson also pens Biker Mice From Mars #5, a jumping-on point for the new arc “Mars Under Siege.” This entry pits the biker trio against Detonator the Cruel and raises the stakes as the RoboForce crossover continues.
Expanding Universes and Standalone Specials
Adventure Time #6 deepens its serialized arc with The Lich now possessing Finn. The rotating creative team keeps the tone fresh while delivering emotional weight and magical weirdness. Elsewhere, Skin Police 2 #2 explores a clone-policing dystopia on the brink, while Cemetery Kids Run Rabid #3 dives further into cyberpunk horror.
Rick and Morty fans have much to look forward to, with the final issue of Rick and Morty vs. The Universe #4 promising annihilation, or redemption. A one-shot tie-in, Last Mort Standing, focuses on a multiversal Morty deathmatch, and a massive Rick and Morty 10th Anniversary Omnibus Vol. 4 collects stories from the long-running series.
Graphic Novels and Advance Solicitations Round Out the Slate
Oni’s February 2026 advance titles include several major graphic novels. The First Freedom: The Story of Opal Lee and Juneteenth celebrates the real-life activist who helped push Juneteenth into national recognition. This biographical work is offered in both softcover and hardcover formats.
Other highlights include Skullkickers: Compact Attack Edition Vol. 1, Covenant Vol. 4, Small Favors (a new edition of Colleen Coover’s erotic classic), and Free For All, a satirical dystopia from Patrick Horvath. Video game tie-ins Ogrest Vol. 1 and MFKZ Vol. 2 round out the multimedia appeal.

SMALL FAVORS: THE DEFINITIVE GIRLY PORNO COLLECTION NEW EDITION SC ADVANCE SOLICIT
- WRITTEN/ART/COVER BY COLLEEN COOVER | ONI PRESS SOLICITATIONS OCTOBER 2025
Collecting Eisner Award–winning illustrator Colleen Coover’s scintillating tale of sapphic friendship, love, and orgasmic indulgence in one softcover volume for the first time!
Small Favors explores the playfully erotic romance between a highly aroused young woman, Annie, and the coquettish, pocket-size manifestation of her conscience, Nibbil. As a Cosmic Keeper of Annie’s Conscience, it’s Nibbil’s job to pull Annie’s mind out of the gutter, which is unfortunately the one place she’s bound (consentingly) and determined (begging) to stay herself. Encouragement turns to dripping excess as Annie and Nibbil learn that maybe all you can do in the face of temptation is give in to yourself . . . and your friends.
This collection includes the full-color eighth issue of the original run, early character sketches and extra comics, and an introduction from writer Kelly Sue DeConnick (Bitch Planet, Wonder Woman Historia).

Luella has been training, waiting for this moment. But will she have what it takes to defeat the man who would do anything, absolutely anything, to keep his fortune?
