There’s a new portable Nintendo console in the works. It’s a new version of the Nintendo 2DS. It’s name? The New Nintendo 2DS XL. It’s a new model of Nintendo’s popular 2DS system. Except this version can actually fold like a Nintendo 3DS or the old DS models. You can check out the reveal video at this link.
Besides being foldable with its new design, the 2DS XL has screens that are 82 percent larger than the regular 2DS. Also, Amiibo owners can enjoy built-in Amiibo functionality for the 2DS XL. Additionally, the system is compatible with all Nintendo 3DS, New Nintendo 3DS games and most Nintendo 2DS games as well. The design also features the C Stick for enhanced controls and better camera controls for compatible games. Also, the ZL and ZR buttons are there as well.
So, if players are looking for a more economical alternative to the Nintendo 3DS, this might be a good option. The new portable system will cost $149.99, and it will hit store shelves on July 28 in North America. It seems like the 2DS line is at least still doing well for Nintendo to release a brand-new model. It will also be interesting to see what the future will be for the 3DS line going forward.
