Nintendo NFC Reader Release Date Revealed?
For the Amiibo’s, part of the appeal is that not only can you use them for your Wii U, which has a built in reader for them, but also on your 3DS, which has games that allow Amiibo support. These include titles such as Super Smash Bros., Code Name Steam, and upcoming titles like Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer, Fire Emblem Fates, and more. However, there has been some restrictions on this, as only the New Nintendo 3DS XL’s have the built in NFC reader to allow Amiibo’s to work on the 3DS. So, Nintendo made an attachable NFC reader for those with older models of 3DS, but it was unclear when the adapter would release, until now. dAn online Target ad is not only allowing pre-orders of the device, it reveals it’ll ship on September 25th, which may just be the release day of the device.
The ad also notes details on what the device does:
“Expand the world of amiiboTM to the Nintendo 3DS family of systems. Add bonus content, additional features or customize your character. Look for the amiibo icon on compatible games. At least one amiibo accessory required. Game, system and amiibo sold separately. 2 AA batteries included.”
Obviously this has not been confirmed by Nintendo as of yet, but given the specific details on the Nintendo NFC Reader. I say it’s a good shot this is legit.
