Metacritic user scores suggest there is No Hope Left for Resident Evil
After an initially positive critical reception, Resident Evil 6 has been taking a bit of a battering from the critics. Recent negative verdicts include a measly 4.5/10 from GameSpot UK’s Kevin VanOrd and a damning 3/10 from Destructiod’s Jim Sterling, who unapologetically labelled Capcom’s action adventure blockbuster “a Michael Bay movie”. Our guess is he probably didn’t think much of Transformers…
However, if Metacritic user scores are anything to go by, Sterling’s evaluation could be complimentary by comparison.
Based on nearly 4,500 ratings from PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 owners combined, RE6 is today sitting comfortably within the category of “overwhelming dislike”, with an unfathomably low score of 0.4/10 on both platforms. Reading from the negative user reviews submitted, common criticisms appear to be an over-reliance on quick-time events, constant cutscenes, tedious combat sequences, clumsy controls, and the near-total abandonment of survival horror.
In Capcom’s defence, RE6 has garnered some respectable verdicts from the likes of Game Informer, GameTrailers, Strategy Informer and IGN, crediting the game’s ambition, longevity, cinematic presentation and memorable moments. Yet, it would seem a percentage of fans are profoundly unsatisfied by the Japanese developer’s latest release.

Crapcom does it again! Now I wonder, will they punish Resident Evil like they did with Megaman? Or maybe they’ll hand the series over to a western developer like Operation Raccoon City? I don’t know why this news pleases me so greatly, I mean, as a critic I really shouldn’t be delighted at a Triple A big budget game getting a terrifyingly low score but right now I’m overjoyed.
Perhaps it’s because few companies out there deserve to be crapped on as much as Capcom does. From their abuse of Street Fighter and its “Hyper Mega Extreme Remix” editions that force serious players to buy the new version for a handful of characters, or their total mistreatment of the Megaman franchise and even going so far as to blame fans for it, and their shitting all over Devil May Cry and handing it over to NinjaTheory a developer who couldn’t characterize their way out of a wet paper bag. Not to mention all of their day 1 on disc DLC bullshit and excuses.
Capcom is easily one of the worst developers and publishers out there. I liked Dragon’s Dogma a lot, but I think that has to do more with it literally being director Hideaki Itsuno’s dream game than anything to do with Capcom itself. Given a bit of time they’ll surely ruin that promising new series as well.
In closing, fuck Gears of Evil 6 and Fuck Capcom too.

I can agree with most of your points, but the most criminal to me is the absolute abandonment of one of their best franchises: Mega Man. How they can spit in the faces of gamers, especially with everyone teaming up to work on Mega Man Legends 3, and then pull the rug out from under them on it?

And then they laid it all on the fans by saying this on twitter “It’s a shame the fans didn’t want to get more involved. If we saw there was an audience for MML3 people might change minds.”
Capcom sucks.

actually I followed megaman zero, but feel as if they should reboot in 3d. the PSone version was interesting for a ten year old.
