Jill Valentine rivals Leon S. Kennedy in polls as the most popular Resident Evil protagonist ever. The top spot between them changes based on who has a recent game. Behavior chose both of them due to their “rivalry.” They are the survivors in the first chapter of Dead by Daylight, titled Resident Evil.
At this moment, Leon is on top because of his recent appearance in the Resident Evil 4 remake. However, there was a time when Jill Valentine was so popular that she became the first Resident Evil character to appear in Marvel vs. Capcom 2. When the first Resident Evil game was released, more players chose Jill over Chris Redfield. This trend continued in the Resident Evil Remake. Interestingly, Capcom seems to have an obsession with Chris since he fits the typical image of a white guy with brown hair that third-person shooter players love.
There was a lot of hype when Chris returned in Resident Evil 5 because he had been missing from the canon since his last numbered title, Resident Evil 1. Although Code Veronica was a mainline game, it was not numbered. Chris’s absence in Resident Evil 2, 3, and 4 made fans excited for his return. However, many fans have now expressed their fatigue with Chris. He has appeared in Resident Evil 5, 6, 7, and 8, with rumors suggesting he might also be in 9. Some fans miss underutilized characters like Claire, Rebecca, and Barry. Sequel characters like Sheva, Helena, and Carlos have been abandoned and left collecting dust.
Jill is more popular than these characters but is receiving the same treatment. The last time she was playable was in a Resident Evil 5 DLC and in Revelations, which is a spin-off. Fans believe Jill should be featured in a numbered title, where her popularity can truly shine.

Resident evil: Death Island starring Jill Valentine
Another Proof of Jill’s popularity is that Julia Voth and Sasha Zotova, models who lend their Likeness to make Jill develops their own fanbase. Julia Voth became an actress and starred on the Canadian Sitcom Package deal. Sasha Zotova is now a videogame streamer with growing following.
She is the main marketing point of Resident Evil: Death Island. This CGI movie is her first canonical appearance since Resident Evil 5. The last two games lead by Jill is Revelations which is a low budget spin off made and Resident Evil 3 remake. Speaking of Resident Evil 3 Remake, I hated how that game end up feeling like a DLC for Resident Evil 2. They cut content from the original, she have less alternate costumes and they try to make it less scary by decreasing the appearance of Nemesis. If you look at Resident Evil Games lead by Male characters, Capcom gives more effort and content. Meanwhile games starring Jill felt lazilly done. This character deserves better knowing her potential and popularity. For the Love of God, Make her the lead character of Resident Evil 9.
