iZombie Will End With Its Fifth Season
The CW spared a lot of its bubble shows this season, but it will do so no longer. Today they announced iZombie would be ending after its upcoming fifth season, and so would Jane the Virgin and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. All three are critical darlings that get savage ratings (they do better on streaming platforms).
To be honest, we’re fine with iZombie wrapping up. We’ve enjoyed it, but five seasons feels about the right length for this series. The basic joke of Liv taking on the personalities of the brains she eats can only go on for so long, especially when we have to endure it in every episode. Plus, the series overall is on an arc that would feel more satisfying if it came to a climax soon (the world now knows about zombies and Seattle is quarantined…..not the kind of thing you can keep going for seven more seasons).
The CW also revealed its full schedule today, and most of the pairings make sense: Wednesday is “middle America high school drama night,” Thursday is “moody shadowy magical program night,” and Sunday is the “girl power double hour.” Putting Dynasty and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend together, however, makes no sense, unless the theme is “pitiful Nielsen night.”
As always, iZombie will return midseason.
