Green Lantern May Not Appear In Justice League 1 & 2
With only three weeks left in the wait for Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, many are eagerly awaiting not only its arrival, but the true arrival of the DC movie universe. With many characters in the Justice League being shown or teased in the film, Dawn of Justice really is the gateway for the rest of the movie universe. However, in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Dawn of Justice Produce Charles Roven notes one key member of the Justice may not appear in the two-part Justice League film at all. Green Lantern:
“Every beat of the movie is not yet worked out. So there’s the possibility that he may or may not be in Justice League 2,” said Roven. “For now, we felt that we were introducing enough characters that the best possible place we could put Green Lantern is some introduction in Justice League 2, or barring that, a movie after.”
The reasoning behind this possible decision is because of the previous Green Lantern movie starring Ryan Reynolds, asGreg Silverman, the president of creative development and worldwide production at Warner Bros. states:
“There’s real opportunity there. We didn’t do a great job on that first Green Lantern movie. This is a character who deserves to be treated in the same way that Batman and Superman and Wonder Woman are being treated now, which is with great reverence. I guess I can say to the Green Lantern fans: if they can be patient with us, I think they’ll be really happy.”
The Green Lantern film, called Green Lantern Corps, is the final film in the current slate of titles, set for 2020. While the first two Justice League films are coming out in 2017 and 2019.
