Special footage paid for by Saban that Toei filmed so they could continue using the Zyuranger scenes for MMPR.

Sort of. Not too long after that started the half-assed splice scenes. But some of the Zyu2 monsters were my favorites.

I think the best thing they could do is release it with Japanese commentary and some music explaining about PR and how it adapted Sentai etc.etc.


On the other note perhaps they don't want to release the Zyu2 footage due to an agreement with Saban.

What is Zyu2?

Back in 93, Power Rangers was initially going to be just one season long, but due to its surprise popularity, Saban paid Toei to make some footage that would be for PR using the Zyu costumes. As such, Toei shot footage for what became the final 17 episodes of MMPR Season 1 (at least, I think it was 17 given that they recycled the Pudgy Pig and used one or two monsters from ZyuRanger they did not use before Doomsday) and the first 13 episodes to Season 2. It is kind of like how Voltron Lion Force Season 2 was all made to be specifically Voltron episodes as opposed to Golion. Anyway, thus, Toei created footage that would featured in Power Rangers, which included monsters like the Oysterizer, The Goo Fish, Pirantis Head, the Two Headed Parrot, Peckster, Rhinblaster, Soccadillo, Invenusble Flytrap, etc. It is also worth noting that some of the new footage has a female in the costume of the Yellow Ranger, probably to mimick that of the PR version being a female.

With that said, I was hoping Toei would just throw the battle footage they shot onto the DVDs as an extra feature despite the fact that they do not put any extras on their Sentai DVDs anymore.

I'm sure Toei has to have some copies of it. Saban on the other hand, who knows anything could have happened to it in Disney's hands.

I am currently watching Zyuranger (waiting for Vol.3 to arrive as we speak) and i am enjoying it ... i am looking forward to this fight
