ZERO: Black Blood

Wow, I thought this series was airing next month.
All 6 episodes already came out? Why did this go over the heads of everyone here?
It didn't really go over our heads. The six episode miniseries aired last week in it's entirety (which is why it's been and gone so fast). It's also being re-edited into two movies - the first one got a limited cinema run in Japan on Saturday just gone (8th), and the second is showing a week on Saturday (22nd).

And just to cheer you up Masta, I'll point out that this was written by Kobayashi (Go-Busters, ToQger).

Based on the first two episodes, it's held together by Ray Fujita, who is (as always) awesome as Zero. The new character Kane is a bit of an annoying dick, and ToQ #3 is doing OK but not spectacular. Her character, Yuna, just comes across as a Rekka clone (who herself started out more or less as a Jabi clone) so I can't help but compare her atm. I don't know if there's going to be time in just 6 episodes for her to make it more individual.

^ Refutation that pertains to stuff that happens after episode 2 of this.
Not saying you're wrong but I swear Rei only gained the use of Ginga in the first season.

And I thought of a better example, is season 1 Rei always wore Silva on the chain around his neck,

I thought about that, but maybe he has both the chain and the glove to carry Silva.

But, without reading the spoiler, there's probably something that denies my idea.

just finished watching 1 and 2. not a bad start. Zero was always my fave character from Garo xD

but someone tell me, whats the "Dolce" of the blood that Zero and Silva spoke of? am i missing something obvious from previous series? Dolce means sweet or dessert in Italian, but whats the meaning here?

is it somethiing new to ZBB or has it come up in previous seasons? i honestly dont recognise it thinking back.

I can see where you're coming from in regards to comparing Yuna and Rekka, but I never felt Rekka was that similar to Jabi beyond being a female Makai Priest.
Rekka definitely became her own character during season two and The Tougen Flute, but when she first appeared in Red Requiem she filled the Jabi-type role and IMO didn't really expand beyond that (though that's likely just due to time constraints). We'll see if Yuna manages to carve out her own niche or not in the short amount of time available.

Rei has a line where he says something about the man having being exposed to Horror blood, so I just assumed that this is was what would have happened to Kaoru in the first series if Kouga hadn't saved her? Rei also says that the Horrors find a human in this state to be tastier than usual, so it kinda works with that translation.

One thing that has confused me a little (although otherwise I enjoyed the first two episodes a lot, apart from a few minor qualms) is that this miniseries seems to be implying a lot that women are incapable of becoming Makai Knights - as in, even if you gave them all the same training, they still wouldn't be able to do it -, rather than what previous series pretty much outright stated, which is that they were not permitted to be Makai Knights.

^That has got me thinking, is Yuna the first woman we've seen wield a Soul Metal weapon?
I kind of hope Rekka manages to get the rules changed or something if it is a rule.

I want to say we have, but I can't actually recall. Is Rekka's knife made of soul metal? (Also, sorry, soul metal - I have no idea why I called it makai steel).

I've only seen episode 1 so far (watching episode 2 tomorrow), but that was news to me, too.

The way it was talked about in Red Requiem was that the Makai Knights & Priests are so steeped in tradition that it's just them being old-fashioned that means Rekka didn't get to be a Knight. This is suggesting that it's IMPOSSIBLE for a woman to even use Soul Metal, let alone summon armor. To be fair, when Juzou is able to lift one of Rei's swords in Makai Senki episode 8, it's treated like a big deal.

First impressions of Black Blood after episode 1... It feels like Garo, yet not. I want to see more though, because it's more Rei, and his solo episodes in Makai Senki were some of my favourites out of all things Garo so far.
