Looks like I'll have to check a sub episode sometime to see the difference myself.

I always have Gash raws lying on my HD, but the subs I burned off. I could probably make a clip of the part of the episode with "Boku wa koko ni iru" and do a yousendit.

how can you guys stand Zatch Bell? It's completely stupid. Not to mention the dub is horrible. All they do is make fun of themselves. Wtf. I cant stand animes that dont take themselves seriously. Its kewl if they joke but when they make fun of themselves then its just pointless. Like the episode that was on today. ZAtch had to fight some pink girl and they were crying. Yet all they could do was make light of the situation. I could already tell the JApanese version was probably a bit more serious but no. All they could do in the dub was "oh man now shes got ME crying hur hur hur!! hur hur hur!! IM SO FUNNY!!!!"

I mean wtf. I loved Medabots. It was goofy and funny because it KNEW when to take itself seriously. When the scene got dramatic or sad, it WAS. They didnt stop the drama and make fun of it. If someone was crying they didnt joke about it. It took itself SERIOUSLY.

I really dont know how anyone can stand Zatch Bell dub. Maybe the sub. I havent seen any of the sub and I dont think I want to. The show looks way too stupid. But I can see where the sub might take itself more seriously where as the dub is just a mockery of anime.

What is it about this show that has everyone going nuts over it?

Could you be more specific as to instances that you don't like?

What I like about the show is the core theme of friendship and how it can make you strong and how you're willing to sacrifice yourself for your friend or fight even harder for your friend.

LOVE the voice acting and I also love that there are a lot of crackhead moments that the show doesn't take itself seriously, cuz it's just jammin' on crack sometimes. But at a moments notice you'll see the full gravity of a situation a character's in only to be saved by the core theme of friendship.

Love the overall world design and the Highlander-esque "there can be only one" and the dynamics of the fights that take place.

Zatch as a character is inspiring, cuz he's small, but he knows what right and sticks by it no matter what. He loves, he fights, and he inspires his human friend Kyo to be more that he was and to fight hard and become brave because of his care for his friend.

I just dig the show overall, it's edits be damned.

I'm guessing you're talking about the fight against Koruru. Yeah the original was very sad and heart-breaking, brings tears to my eyes almost everytime. Koruru was my favorite. They even had a special insert song for the fight against Koruru which I loved called "Boku wa koko ni iru", which means like "I am right here". It was my favorite insert song, they use it again later for a fight with a character named Yopopo. I like "Konjiki no Gash!!" because the author can do comedy, action, AND drama. The dramatic moments his manga are very good and aren't ruined by comedy. But his comedy is quite well written which is what also draws me to Makoto Raiku's work. Because he creates such unusual characters which make certain situations very possible. For the action he tends to invoke a lot of strategy in most of his fights. It may not be so evident in the beginning, but as the story develops fights get more complicated and Gash gains new powers.

I really have not witnessed the dub, I don't have cable TV. I've only seen the original animated version up to about episode 110, and read the manga up until chapter 221. My friend bayoab of envirosphere is the only one who has told me of the edits and his disappointment of the missing songs. He's almost as big of a Gash addict as I am.

His name was Dani(Danny) the nickname was the whole adding "boy" at the end. I remember one time he said "Stop calling me 'boy'." In Japan they used a very famous voice actor for Dani, Kappei Yamaguchi. Known for roles in One Piece, Ranma, InuYasha, Detective Conan, YuYu Hakusho, Rizelmine, etc.

These are all GREAT reasons why to like the anime. GPG, if you don't like the anime, go to ANN. They've got a review of it that you'll agree with very much. :nono:

Anyways, I love this show. Especially since the Kolulu episode (which made me cry as well, Kyusaku) where they basically decided to do something you rarely see in anime: Become a hero. My girlfriend and I fell in love with the show once we realized it wouldn't just be another anti-hero doing the right thing because he has to, but rather because he WANTS to.

I'm glad so many people on this board like the show--its become one of my favorites since YYH left Toonami ( :bawling: ), and actually, I'd like to know if Kyusaku reads the manga translated or just RAW, and if translated, where are you getting it from? As much as I like Naruto, I get the feeling I'd enjoy THIS manga a lot more. I understand Zatch Bell has almost 70 episodes subbed (Maybe more, I'd have to check my S/L acct.) which makes me want to sit through the long d/l time of a dial-up to get ahead.

I'm glad so many people on this board like the show--its become one of my favorites since YYH left Toonami ( :bawling: ), and actually, I'd like to know if Kyusaku reads the manga translated or just RAW, and if translated, where are you getting it from? As much as I like Naruto, I get the feeling I'd enjoy THIS manga a lot more. I understand Zatch Bell has almost 70 episodes subbed (Maybe more, I'd have to check my S/L acct.) which makes me want to sit through the long d/l time of a dial-up to get ahead.

I read it raw, but there are some people who do chapter summaries in english,(but those are the more recent chapters, a lot has happened since before the LORD story arc) and I think null started scanlating it, I could be mistaken. I know someone started scanlating it other than that group that just did the first volume, I could ask someone if you'd like.

I agree, this anime is unexpectedly awesome. I had never heard of it before, but yeah... they really knock it outta the park on a regular basis.

Great voice acting too, which stacks up with the best.

Quite the interesting dynamic and take on the whole, "There Can Be Only One" theme.
