No Showa on the poll?

None. All of them have their stupid writing, their cheesy effects, their missed opportunities... but I don't think there's one that's conclusively worse than the others. Every one has just enough of the good stuff in it.

I am surprised however at 10 who voted for Ryuki. Whilst not my favorite, it was definitely an enjoyable show. Maybe it was the Mirror Monsters or the finale that they didn't like...
I think I started a "worst Showa series" poll at some point. Hardly anyone voted in it.
And while I think the second half of Amazon is lame, the first half is some darned fine Kamen Rider. At the very least, I'd say Showa gets a lot worse than Amazon if you really want to race for the bottom.
Ryuki has some really, really bad scriptwriting, particularly in the first half of the show. Clunky dialog, baffling character motivations, confusing pacing... and a lot of the metaplot is held together purely by very formulaic bad writing, particularly Idiot Plots and plots that hinge on several completely unrelated coincidences.
Now, Idiot Plots and abuse of coincidences tend to be the two forms of bad writing Heisei Rider is most prone toward. (I don't think OOO has had any plot content yet that wasn't either an Idiot Plot or completely coincidence-driven, for example.)
Even "good" shows like Kuuga and Double tend to be overly-reliant on coincidental events, though I think Double is a lot worse in this regard than Kuuga. In Kuuga, a bit more effort went into establishing why Godai could know such-and-such person or do such-and-such thing. Shotaro and friends flat-out had the ability to teleport wherever the plot needed them to be.
But to get back to Ryuki-- the abuse of coincidence there is just astonishing at points. I'm seriously surprised a lot of the stuff with Zolda was allowed to air, he is probably the single most poorly-written lawyer character I've ever seen on any TV show. Shinji's also an astonishingly poorly-written journalist, but in a way that's more typical for TV characters.
Everybody knows there are good shows and clunkers in Kamen Rider the question in context of the thread I would assume even with a severe title like "worst" is which one worked the least for you or had the least going for it or just never came together at all or in some cases seemingly doomed from the start.
I'll freely admit that even in seasons I tend to vote thumbs-down (with a few exceptions) there will be some good ideas and things I like but I just can't quite be as forgiving of it as you seem to be when the writing takes a nose dive or when I feel the show is being created more from the board room than the writing room or the creative team is just thoughtlessly cramming in what they think are the popular elements.
Because when you've seen Rider shows that did live up to their potential or come damn close it kinda makes Rider on a bad day stand out even more. This all accepting of course that it's made for kids and their parents in another country to being with. So if I feel a Rider show is bad it's not that I hate it for not being Shakespeare it's more that I know Rider can do better and do so without choking the series to death on toys.
