World Of Warcraft- Becomming a huge problem?

Are you addicted to the game? Recently a news story has been aired. A girl dropped out of high school over the game. She spent all her summer job money on a expinsive hard core gaming computer/gear and on the WoW game. Now her parents are about to kick her out of the home.

She now spends more then 60 hours playing a week. This game is becomming out of control worldwide. I even know a guy from my school who stayed home claiming he was sick so he could play WoW in his room. These people have no life. really. No life. Does anyone here know some one who is becomming a addict?

I know people who play it a lot but aren't addicted, per se.

I still think it's a bit silly. Considering that EVERYONE plays it you'd think that people would move on to something a bit more fun or cool. *shrug*

To me, If you play more then 5 hours a day, then something is wrong.

The game is nuts, but I think it just ruins people of a certain personality type. I've friends that play it like mad, but are able to balance out real life as well.

Certain people... if it wasn't WoW, it'd just be something else. I don't think it's the game, but human nature.

My little brother has the game, but I just don't see the attraction myself. It doesn't look that cool.

my brother cant go anywhere without talking to people about what level/race/ect he's on.

He's been threatend to have his computer takin away many times but NOTHING has been done.

I Hate WoW. lol there are MUCH better games out there.

Agreed and obviously the same goes for pretty much anyone with an obsessive interest in something but it's only ever accepted when it's something 'cool' like sports or, sometimes, if it makes the person in question money.


But as for World of Warcraft... having grown tired of generic fantasy settings and having a general hatred for RPG-style combat (although I ignored that hatred when playing City of Heroes), it's never looked that appealing to me.

Asian teens are known for taking the game alot more serious. One kid killed himself after playing the game. Asian Adults even have been known to quit work and stay home just to play it.
