Yeah I think Japan can be proud of their team. Besides, let's not forget that Japan is not a soccer-country, like Brasil or European teams are: baseball and so forth are much more popular.

As a little anecdote, Maki (attacker of Japan) used to play ice hockey until he was 16, only then he switched to soccer. Whereas most players in the WC have been playing soccer all their life.

So for a non-soccer nation, I think they did pretty well all in all.

Yes, it was very, very bad and I'm pissed at the refs. It was an out ball and the ref assistants raised the flag, the South Koreans let their guard down because they saw the flag go up, the Swiss player that had the ball shot and made it in...and it was counted for some reason. Screw the first Swiss goal too, the player freaking head butted a South Korean and made him wear a bandage and head net for the rest of the game. Today was just not South Korea's day, damnit! Now...I should probably go find out what channels actually carry games from South Korea as I don't feel like going another four years without knowing a thing about the team.

!&^@!%##~~~!! I read the commentary since my curiosity and probably somewhat sadistic nature spurred me on. I swear, HOW many games have REFEREEING Blunders SCREWED this WC??! Man. I still have one of my favorites in, Mexico. It's my home country and all, but against Argentina, I really don't think they they stand much of a chance at winning the game tomorrow. I can't believe how much South Korea has gotten screwed during this WC, oh well, now I'm off to order ESPN2 in hopes that they carry South Korea games. This really was just unfair to the South Koreans, neither oh those two goals should have counted.

As for the next round...

Germany vs Sweden
Argentina vs Mexico - I'm Mexican, I love Mexico, but I just don't see us winning. Not that I'll be upset if we do.
England vs Ecuador
Portugal vs Holland
Italy vs Australia
Switzerland vs Ukraine
Brazil vs Ghana - No idea, but I hope Brazil gets their ass kicked at least.
Spain vs France

Right now I'm looking at Argentina or Holland as the winners of this WC. Overall, this year is just boring, nothing that great has happened and my favorite team got shafted. Guess it's hard to beat 2002 though, that's my all time favorite WC so far. Oh well, SK 2010!

Even though Argentina won, I still feel that Mexico was the better team. This was the best match of this World Cup so far, I don't see anything beating this game. Both teams brought out their best and Mexico dominated the entire first and second half, but they just couldn't keep it up in over time. I really wanted Mexico to go through, it's been what? Nearly 20 years since they made it past round 2. I guess now Argentina is my favorite to win, and I hope that they can do it. I would have loved for Mexico to make it beyond this round, but guess that's going to have to wait another four years.

They could have, but they didn't. It doesn't matter how many cards you get, you can still be the better team, it just means you played rougher than the opposing team. Mexico really pushed forward and did not let Argentina control the game. Argentina was lucky that they only got a yellow on Heinze when it should have been a red. The fact remains that Mexico was not completely dominated like people thought would happen. Mexico played a great game, Argentina made a good shot and won it. But in the end, Mexico was the better team for holding off a team like Argentina for so long and for staying in it up to the very last minute. If a team has to lose, this is the way to do it.
