Wolverine & The X Men-Talkback

Just picked this series up a few hours ago and I'm hooked! When I first saw the DVDs at Suncoast, I thought it was just another oneshot movie that Marvel was making, but when I found out it was a series, I couldn't believe it! I don't regret picking this show up :]

How are the other Marvel animated movies, btw?

Well, Next Avengers was kick-ass, Hulk VS. Wolverine was Bad-ass. wait until you see the episode where Nick Fury blackmails Wolverine into fighting the Hulk again.

Bah, this show is nothing more than a Wolverine talk show with other X-men occassionally as guests. I understand his name is in the title and that I guess it's expected, but ****, do they honestly think the show wont sell if it's simply titled "X-men" and isnt starring Wolverine? Pft, please...screw you Marvel. You've forgotten that it's not just Wolverine that makes the X-men so damn popular.

What?
Wolverine is the most popular X-Man, if not the most popular Marvel character apart from Spider-Man.
There's always been leaders in the X-Men, whether it's Charlie, Scott, or leaders of their own squads and ofshoot X-groups. Wolverine is the lead here, of course, but he doesn't get all the limelight. It's a serial storyline and many of the episodes spotlight other X-Men, and characters never seen in animated form before. In some episodes Logan has less than a few minutes screen time... Have you even watched it?

I have to sort of agree with Wing...I like this series, but Wolverine has lost his appeal for most readers. He was never a leader-class guy, he was a wild card, uncontrollable, mature on his own terms, and had no identity. Now? He's a leader class, he's got 10,000 "definitive" and b.s origins, you can't even hurt him...he's boring these days. IWolverine isnt even the reason I watch this series, I watch it for Scott, Rouge, Jean, and Emma....all of whom are far better written and handled much less genericly.

Because of his popularity with kids and general "casual" or mainstream fans, he can never be truley disposed of or "lessened" to something that is more reflective of who he used to be.

**** for the most part. Both Ultimate Avengers movies are laughable, pre-school versions of the Ultimates. There's better voice acting in THUNDERCATS than in any of the movies too.

I'd recommend Hulk vs Wolverine, but that's only because it ties into this series. The rest arent worth it.

I'm up to episode 8 actually...just can't force myself to watch it anymore. As Skynight said, Wolverine is not a leader. Putting him in that role in this series seems incredibly forced. I've been reading X-books for almost 17 years, and never has there been a time where I've felt he should lead...same goes for this series. I'd be ok with Emo-Cyke leading and Logan in second command mainly for battle purposes, but this just feels wrong...it doesn't feel like the X-men to me.

Hey, I agree, Wolverine isn't much of a leader (he just about works in X-Force), I was just saying that it's not all about him, it's about the group and that's always hard to manage with the X-Men's numbers and lack of a definitive team like other groups. The main reason I enjoy the show is more just for the chance to see some of the new characters in animated form and the Genosha/ Future storyline.
