Why the Re-cast on Decade?

There really wouldn't be a rider to celebrate or remember without that actor that played them.

With the recasts, it's more like a celebration of cosplayers. Anyone can wear the suits but it's just not the same. As long as there is a nice explanation I really don't mind too much.

A big reason why casting sometimes bombs the way it does is because of scheduling conflicts. Sometimes they have prior engagements which makes it difficult for them to come back to shows they were once on.

Also, sometimes management gets in the way or there's just the plain ol' lack of desire to comeback and reprise their role. Especially if the role was a major handicap in their career later on.

I'll always remember what Takeru said in an interview, in the acting world playing in shows like Kamen Rider or Super Sentai was always considered bad luck. Once you played that role you never recover your career.

For some reason that's change lately, for him and for Yuusuke Yamamoto (Tsurugi), Yuuki Satou (Kagami), and Hiro Mizushima (Tendou).

But for many it didn't turn out that way. Though, Shinji's actor had a pretty steady career... GaoRed too.

Yeah about that :redface2:

Oh, Lord...

I think it would have been a good idea to just say that since they are all different universe they all would have new rider that have taken their place or something.

That would be way better that giving a whole new person that doesn't even look similar and say "Yea this is this guy but he just looks different now" like how on Fresh Prince when the mother (Vivian, who was dark skinned an thin) all the sudden was recast with a completely different actor who was light skinned and thicker.

The idea of recasting doesn't really bother me much anymore. After a lifetime of soap operas, I'm used to it. It's ridiculously common in that genre. One of my favorite characters was played by three different women in the same year, in fact.

It's a shame they couldn't get all of the originals back for Decade, but recasting isn't the worst thing in the world. As long as the new actor respects the role and gives it their best shot, it can work.

Right on. Management interference has even happened in Kamen Rider before with some of the Shôwa Riders. Just switching casting agencies can keep you from coming back!

That said, I think the Decade recasting is more of a conscious decision on Toei's part, with how they're doing the story and the remixed worlds. I still hope they give the original guys a chance to return though, those that can/want to.

Odagiri saying he had difficulties with acting the character, to me just means he can't act. But that's my opinion.

I don't recall him saying anything of the sort, first I hear he right out bashed the franchise, next I heard that he said it takes no acting skill to act in a childrens program like Kamen Rider, then I've heard he said a whole bunch of things and now this? Okay what did he say exactly is what I want to know.

Personally I don't mind the recasting since its pretty much a new universe for each world. Kinda like Marvel What If's or an Elseworld title.

I heard a flimsy rumor that Tendou was being recasted, I wouldn't be surprised

But I do think the whole "Bring everyone back for an entire series" Concept was a good idea that had so much potential.
