Why is Changeman so popular in Japan?

I watched some episodes of Changeman and I really don't get it. Why is this so popular to the japanese fans?

Cause you got the legendery Japanese singer KAGE doing all the songs and its probably one of the most story drivin sentai ever.

Jetman's the flashier one that gets more attention, I think one thing in its favor is because it had a proper VHS/LD/DVD release after it aired, while mostly all of the '80s shows didn't. Truthfully, I don't think Jetman would even exist if not for what writer Hirohisa Soda did with sentai in the mid and late '80s (with Bioman through Turboranger) and I think a number of Japanese fans recognize that. Soda himself has said that Changeman's the best (and his favorite) of his works, so...

As for why Changeman's so popular...it's a good show! :laugh: Most fans, from what I've seen, think the characters are layered and perfectly cast, and that the stories are deep and well written. In my opinion, it certainly is the epitome of the term "sentai," and of the franchise itself.

I think one of the female villians in Shaider was here but she's a sentai heroine there...:buttrock:
