Why are the Super Hero Taisen films such a disaster?

What do you mean? Real-life events are the reason KR Taisen is bad? Is it the new Ohranger?

That'd be a little silly given how Sentai's 40th anniversary was labelled as being this year, with Ninninger.
(It's a garbage anniversary yes, but that's what they said prior to the show's start)

In no way should that Ninja Special represent Sentai's 40th Anniversary. They have to go by series. Gokaiger was the 35th from 2011, so 2016's team is the 40th. Toei is gonna do more for Sentai next year.

I don't even get why they still included the Ninninger in SHTGP KR3. They didn't even release a toy of the Tridoron robot mode this time, unlike the combination in Rider Taisen. Could it be that they now include Sentai in the movies just due to the Rider vs Sentai tv specials?

I don't see them combining movies. The Sentai staff has completely ignored the Taisen movies so far, after all. So, I can't see them letting a Rider producer and writer handle the Sentai anniversary. There probably will be a standalone anniversary movie, like 199 Heroes (which came out in the same year as Let's Go Kamen Riders, another anniversary movie).

Nah, that's just the recent way of doing it.

Liveman was labelled as the 10th Sentai anniversary, and due to that, it hired Daisuke Shima and Megumi Mori as special casting; not really too much while Turboranger aired during the 10th year since Battle Fever J aired (1979-1989) however so it got the big fancy 10th anniversary special.

Nothing big happened until Ohranger, meant as the 20th anniversary (1995-1975). That's why it got every prior head writer to work on the show (Hirohisa Soda, Toshiki Inoue, Susumu Takaku, Shouzo Uehara and Noboru Sugimura), Hiroshi Miyauchi was brought in as mentor, etc. etc. Timeranger had a special but, Gaoranger really got all the promoting with its 25th anniversary movie, however that's when they started going by seasons; this permeated through to Boukenger and Gokaiger, the 30th and 35th anniversaries respectively. Ninninger as a whole is counting it by the years however, as it should... and so yes, this year is the 40th anniversary (1975-2015).

Hmmm, you may have a good and in order to make good quality superhero taisen film it should take at least one or two years to do that but since it include characters from the current rider/sentai,It won't work anyway

They were terrible even back when they were still All Rider movies.

You know what i agreed so i think so it's best that toei and bandai should abandon their superhero crossover film specials in theaters and just do their future "special" films in direct to videos only or make tv specials of both kamen rider and super sentai in every spring break only.

None of that actually proves that an animated film would somehow do better than a live-action one like kamsasdn keeps insisting.

Well i think it will work.

You say that as if the live-action movies didn't bring nostalgia. And that somehow more people feel nostalgic for Ishinomori's old art instead of the old TV shows.

I think so But i think having a kamen rider (ichigo-stronger) and goranger movie in ishinomori art style or 009 (2015) style will do nicely and bring nostalgia to old and new fans alike at seeing their heroes back in their in their prime in anime form

It's fair to say that whatever medium any of the Super Hero Taisen films takes, it would probably fail outright.

True.

I actually enjoyed both Super Hero Wars movies....

Good for you

Well at least they didn't put the super sentai 40th anniversary logo in their show at least until next year.

I have to agree since long-time fans of Rider & Sentai would be turned off, mostly because they're used to seeing them in live-action. Not to mention that the newer ones are unfamiliar with Ishinomori's art.

Maybe but i think a behind the scenes would help them make sense when the cartoonist explained that the character designs are combination of both live action and manga counterparts plus i think they will be in the design of the 2015 009 anime.

You may have a good point especially the part about SHT GP should have been named Kamen rider taisen 2 and Black/RX's actor reprise his role one more time now if only Joe Odagiri would reprise as kuuga one more in any future sht films if the conditions are suitable for him.

So anyway maybe i think going back to seperate film for both franchise would do nicely just like back in 2011 by having rider film in may and sentai film in june (though in 2011 the sentai crossover film was postponed due to the earthquake incident)

Well at least it bought back the original actor of kamen rider by reprising his role one last time.

You may have a good point they should have keep the legend gimmick for the anniversary films of both franchise only i wonder if they will abandon this process and go back to film their future tokusatsu special film as direct to video films.

Well i guess the reason is that this short want to resolve one loose point and at least the kikaider anime series has positive reviews spawned a sequel series and a special final special with inazuman but still i think anime would work believe me it can,its just like seeing their characters come back in anime but voiced different actors if the originals refuse or passed away.

lol go watch the Skullman anime and then tell me that. Sooo boring zzzzzzzzz

I still think the anime idea would work.

Good point so i think in 2016 with sentai not taking part in superhero taisen films it will just be well kamen rider taisen 2016 i think and besides next year is the anniversary of both franchise.

In no way should that Ninja Special represent Sentai's 40th Anniversary. They have to go by series. Gokaiger was the 35th from 2011, so 2016's team is the 40th. Toei is gonna do more for Sentai next year.

Well the reason is because both kakuranger and hurricanger have similar ninja themes and since Nininger has the ninja theme toei decided to make that special anyway since Kakuranger and hurricanger comes from the previous sentai shows and 2015 is gorangers/franchise anniversary.

You know what maybe they should have skipped the superhero taisen films and just focus on rider vs sentai tv specials every spring instead and they should have focus on the plot rather than putting too many superheroes just for 'milking' it.

He is right you know.

Seriously, the more these garbage movies come out, the more of a waste of money they become. Does it do better than solo movies of Sentai and Rider? Maybe. But I can only imagine how difficult it must be to use more suits and make it not seem like a TV special.

A Kamen Rider and Sentai anime is never going to happen since I doubt Bandai wants two toy lines going on at the same time. A OVA series based on Spirits can work if they market towards a older audience.

At the same time though, these movies require less from the current cast, since they often have guest stars or just suit-only appearances carrying the scenes. In SHTZ, Haruto never appeared out of suit after the first 30 minutes of the movie. Even in Kamen Rider Taisen, which integrated Gaim much better into the movie, Kouta's actor is still never on set with most of the guest stars (He appears alongside Tsukasa in a few scenes, but only once with Hongo and once with ZX) and he also never appears out of suit once the final battle starts, outside of the credits (where he just appears in Gaim's fruit place's set alongside Mai). You'd never be able to do that in a solo feature.

They haven't really done a really big group shot with hundreds of suit actors since the original SHT anyway. Even solo movies often have sequences with tons of grunts or revived monsters together. They also seem to be fine throwing stage show quality suits on screen for minor past heroes and monsters in these movies.
