Who's your toku role model ?

I'm not gonna say I have a role model or idolization, but in terms of character I realy like DekaRed (Banban Akaza), played by Ryuuji Sainei.

His character is a little impulsive and immature but has a good heart. First one to step it up and is all about justice, plus he fights hella hard when someone deserves a beatdown. Love the hair, love the screaming, love the Gun-Fu.

he changed? Just moments before his demise he was about to KILL HIS OWN FATHER. Yeah, there's your so called justice. There was no justice with Kusaka. None. He was never ment to be liked on the show, he wasnt written to be liked. And I, for much deeper and personal issues, couldnt stand what he put Takumi through. I've been there. I've done that. It's not fun. There's no justice in what Kusaka did in Faiz. None. Unless the moral of the story is "Abuse the girl you like, lie to everyone to make yourself seem more important, make everyone hate faiz for NO REASON AT ALL and try to a murdurous backstabber". Yeah. Great morals for a hero of justice.

Kusaka believed he was doing the right thing in battling the Orphenochs though, and maybe he was. After all, the majority of them were evil, and, as we saw with Kiba, even the most pure could be corrupted at the drop of the hat. What he did is no different than a religious war. Everybody has their view, but who's to say who is right?

The moral of the story is "If you, the viewer, despise Kento Handa/Takumi, Mari, Keitarou and every other whining, wuss nincompoop on this show, you'll LOVE Kusaka." And I did...

wait wait, you loved Kusaka because you hated everyone else? Well.. ok ok. I guess I can somewhat understand that reasoning. But still, very very wrong. I wonder how you would feel if you were Takumi put through that bull ****. You know, at the end of the series. Takumi's friends never knew the real truth about any of Kusaka's lies. Hes lies ran deep. Takumi was a man and put up with it and tried to prove himself through actions. But Im sure if you were in his position, you wouldnt like Kusaka very much at all.

and I honestly dont think Kusaka believed he was doing the right thing. Guys.. hes an honest asshole. He wasnt doing what he felt was right. You mean killing your own father was RIGHT? Turning Kiba and Takumi against each other was RIGHT? He deliberately went after Takumi and tried to ruin his life for NO REASON. That was RIGHT? Bull ****. He knew what he was doing. That's why I loved Kusaka in Paradise Lost. He came off as more of a REAL bad guy. Where as in the series, he wasnt really a bad guy. Or a good guy. He was just an asshole. He isnt misunderstood. He isnt some hero who has a differant way of doing things. Hes a psychopath who lies and continually washes his bike for some crazy ass reason. Because, oh I dunno, HES PSYCHO!!

All I know is, when you have a guy who lies, tries to ruin anothers life, tries to kill others (humans).. how can they be right at all? How can anyone defend a person like that? Yeah, I do have something personal against Kusaka. I've been in Takumi's position. If you've been there, you know it's pure hell. I was extremely happy when I saw Kusaka die. Best moment of my life. In fact, it was really good that I hated Kusaka so much because it allowed me to enjoy his death that much more. And they tried to make it all dramatic but you KNOW takumi was screaming "Thank GOD" in his mind. He deserved the deat he got. It was righteous.. It wasnt self sacrificing. It was a pitiful death to a pitiful man who couldnt stop lying. Not even during the last moments of his time on Earth.

Like I said, he was in a Crusade of sorts against Orphenochs.

All this, to him, was justified. His father was an Orphenoch, he's in a crusade against Orphenochs, put two and two together. He probably felt Takumi was impeding on his plan/progress, too, and wanted him out of the picture. Justified in his mind. Kiba vs. Takumi, two birds with one stone. I'm not saying I'd do all this, genius, I'm saying that it doesn't surprise me that Kusaka did it. I'd do it if I were him too.

You know, that is a good point. I probably should bust out my dvds and re-live Faiz another day just to try and see things from that point of view.

Though ultimately, I stand by my comment that Kusaka is just not someone to be idolized at all. -_- :shakefist

And I think that's the theme Faiz attempted to go for- that it isn't just a battle between good and evil, but between two equal sides who just want to survive and are willing to kill in order to do so. The whole point is that it flies in the face of that old toku tradition where "the good guys are good, the bad guys are bad, and the good guys always win." Nothing is ever that black-and-white, which is why the Orphenochs were all grey.

It's a really cool concept, I think, but the show ultimately couldn't pull it off. It aimed too high and fell too short, partly due to bad casting and lack of direction by the writers. It should have been a lot better than it was.

I agree. But even though I despised him and was glad he got what was coming to him, I still enjoyed watching him. Faiz would have been a LOT less interesting without Kusaka.

Kohei Murakami put in a great performance and played that part extremely well. That guy WAS Kusaka. Whether he was being fake-nice, or creepy, or sadistic, or scared shitless, he was a very convincing actor. It's a lot easier to make the audience like you than it is to make them hate you. He and Izumi Masayaki (Kiba) were the best performers on that show. Oh yeah, and the Smart Lady was too.

I so agree. He did a great job on the role.. too good honestly. Just really got under my skin completely. I didnt like him. I mean, yeah I like villains and assholes sometimes. But this one just really got me frusterated. I really enjoyed his performance more in the movie than the series. In the movie he came off more so as a clear cut bad guy. Clear cut "Bad dude" who you knew right away wasnt someone liked by anyone. I liked that side of him more. But then again he was more tame in the movie than the series. He went nuts with the lying in the series.

But yeah, actor really took that role on. Much to my dismay

Yeah, I'm with you there too, I just think that I can see how Kusaka's action would seem justified to him.
