Who else thinks the majority of Super Sentai is crap?!

Japanfan4ever

Sometimes things get complicated.
Most SS series to me all look the same, have similar plots, and are so mind numblingly overrated it hurts. I know they change it up sometimes! I get that. But what they do is so old at this point that if SS fell off and was cancelled I'd throw a part, and I know many would attend. But what is it that appeals to so many fans?! The majority of this fandom is addicted to it, and it's really so lame. Toei just churns these series with a cookie cutter! They do nothing original with SS anymore, and honestly I feel that those series have become a parody of itself. They're mindless, and have little to no original plot anymore! Some people don't even know why they like the series anymore, they just blindly do. AND OH MY! Look at the variety in that picture below :rolleyes2:

I don't wanna look like I hate Toei. But they really don't care about quality, they only care about quantity.

I know this is gonna start a lot of defensive discussions on a forum where most of you are in love with this show. I'm pretty much feeding myself to the sharks. But if it's any consolation, I love Kamen Rider. Unlike SS, it has a wider margin to change, and has shown more variety. I aint hatin on him. :coolshades:

When it comes to sentai, I usually sit through the first couple of episodes, and just jump to the team up movies. Really I noticed that with Sentai, all you really need is the first couple of episodes and the last episode.

Only Sentai I could really sit through the entirety of was Dekaranger. Though I do wish to give Shinkenger another go.

What does that tell you? Too much filler, too little actual quality of storyline or originality. They're all the same thing over and over and over.

My biggest question though is, Why do you guys love it so much?! There's so many fans that could pretty much :fappery: to it, and I don't get why! I'm not saying they're wrong, just wondering.

Ive tried to watch sentai, i really tried but i never really liked it. its awful... when i was younger Liveman and Flashman were broadcasted in my country, i watched some episodes but i ended hating those series, they are so lame! well i guess its just me, im not a sentai person.

Man, saying all Sentai look the same is the exact kind of uninformed, skimming the surface, total lameass fucking bullshit as people saying all Ultra's look the same or all Showa Riders look the same.

Now as for the actual quality of the shows. Sentai has been going non-stop for a very longtime. It's totally unrealistic to ever expect to like every series that has come out. Or even most of them.

But I am willing to bet that ANYBODY who feels any enjoyment of tokusatsu at all can find at least 2 Sentai series to like. Doesn't even matter what era, but at least 2.

I think that's probably why I enjoyed Dekaranger so much.

Each episode had it's own self contained plot and character focus...it offered a little something different each episode.

Just sayin'.

Anyway, I think my hatred for modern-day Toei is well-documented here. There are exceptions (Gekiranger!) but I generally feel like Toei has totally lost any spunk and originality they once had.

The only thing that every catches my interest is what the series is themed. Every series has a new theme, but beyond that it's just the same series as at least 5 others, with a slightly different theme.
