Which was the better tribute show-KR Decade or Gokaiger?

Gokaiger wins obviously. Not just because of the AR Universe, but because Decade had a very low writing quality. I for once didn't even understand what is the writer trying to convey about Decade's plot.

Is it focused on the AR Universe, or photography, or journey between worlds, or even the Rider War? And I still don't understand what the heck is Shocker supposed to do with Decade? Even after all those Movies...:sly:

Both...but as Vangelus mentioned several times...Gokai learned from what Decade did.

Now we just need a Metal Heroes anniversary series...

Gokaiger is obviously the winner in terms of quality and writing, but it's a bit unfair to compare the two in such a way as without Decade, gokaiger wouldn't have been as good as it turned out to be as it learnt from Decade's mistakes.

Though saying Decade actually as a tribute did really well, as they couldn't actually get back ALL the past riders they chose to tribute the original series in a different way and you have to respect them for that, I mean take Hibiki's world, we'll ignore the fact it had past riders in it for the fact that it actually lived up to what hibiki almost led up to, it may have not been the same person but seeing Asumu become hibiki properly is something a lot of people wanted to see, not to mention all those beautiful screens with the text relating back to Hibiki's original direction.

Shame though after the world tour it became a clusterfuck XD but hey at least we got Black/RX back.

Personally I'd say Decade.

While Gokaiger used had the actors return to certain tributes Decade still had a more fluid way of using the older "guys"

While most were AU and not the ones we remember Decade still for me used the older Riders better. Their arcs revolved around them and Decade playing a role with that.

For me it felt like a better tribute as the cameos were better integrated with the very weak plot.

Ignoring the fact that they weren't the real characters, so their presence meant nothing, Decade had the luxury of having two-parters for each world. The majority of Gokaiger's tributes were one-shots, which had to incorporate a guest while also spotlighting something new on the Gokaiger front and working in new mecha components and so on. The episodes that were two-parters (Shinken, Hurricane, Go-on) had a lot more to give the guests. I always said that, ideally, the Legend episodes would have been two-parters and Gokaiger would have just run longer, but...Bandai won't allow that.

They're not exactly obliged to, but sometimes, people are interested in why somebody has a particular opinion.

In the context of a thread like this it does stimulate conversation (the point of a message board) more if you talk about why you picked that show as opposed to just stating your pick because the idea is for people to talk about why they felt one did a better job of being a tribute show than the other did.

The thing is he has said the exact opposite in other instances.

I'll agree that Decade had a cool concept. I loved the whole idea of world hopping. And I also love how Decade brought back past monsters from previous seasons. Monsters are something that I would've loved to have seen Gokaiger play around with a bit more. Ah well.

BUT! What ruins Decade's ideas for me are the stories and the characters. I think the worst offender was the Agito World. Onodera sees someone who looks like someone who died in his life. And he can't help but feel it's necessary to go talk to her. But instead of just directly talking to her, he comes up with this lame-brained plot of trying to impress her by using the G3 suit. What, the Kuuga suit wouldn't be enough to impress her? In fact, it's like he forgot he could turn into Kuuga at all! Agito had such a cool concept, why did it have to go to waste here? :bawling:

Speaking of the Kuuga and Agito Worlds, I just like seeing Hiroko Sato in her roles that it's my one issue with doing a "proper" Decade with the actual casts appearing a la Gokaiger :P

There were so many ways it could've been much better written. Oh well.

I think you could have still fit in Kotaro if you established Natsumi's World as that of the Showa Riders and that Dai-Shocker originated there. Then as the ten Heisei Riders team up to fight them in the final arc Kotaro could make an appearance. Continue the DaiShocker plot in MW 2010 and in LGKR the Double Riders, V3, and whoever else can be brought can help Eiji against the Shocker Greed instead of a time-travel plot.

Or just do the whole show as two-parters and do fewer episodes that are just the Gokaigers wandering around. I think maybe one non-Legend episode of Gokaiger is at all memorable, and it's still using a guest writer.

I've just caught the first five episodes of Gokaiger and I think it definitely has the potential to be better than Decade. As a Kamen Rider fan who has never watched any super sentai shows, so far it has been really enjoyable and fun to watch. Whether it was a tribute or standalone series, Decade tanked. Decade has so much problems that I don't know where to start. I'm not really a fan of things like child riders and the rider trial system etc. Certain episodes were nicely done though, like the agito one which had plenty relevance to the original series.

I have a question: Why is the AU Riders thing in Decade seen as a bad thing? It's not too uncommon a way to do things. For example, Marvel and DC with their multiverse. Or CLAMP's Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle manga. If DCD crossovers took place in the universe canon to previous Rider series, then it might have messed up all those other continuities, instead of just its own.

It's more like some of the fans can't accept a different version of that paticular Rider. It has to be an absolute. Not to mention that they were nothing like their original counterparts, which was the idea. However some of them like Lance & Larc were improvements over their previous versions.
