When Do They Start Writing Sentai/Kamen Rider Shows?

If the copyright was rejected, they could just pick something else and change the scripts. Wasn't Dekaranger supposed to be called Sirenger but they couldn't get the trademark? I bet something similar went on there

If I recall correctly, we got a comment last year about someone seeing the next Rider's design behind a closed doors event when it was still around january, which means that Fourze's design might already have been done by then.

The writers in a production like this have no say over what suits look like. That's entirely handled by the producer and the design team. A writer might go to the producer and request something designed a certain way as a story element, but that would be happening well before a script was written.

I heard that they designed the Decade and Double suits at the same time, about when the first few episodes of Kiva were airing. So assuming this is still their schedule, OOO and Fourze were designed during the early days of W, and the next two riders were probably being designed while we were being introduced to Elek States.

I would imagine that the gimmick, rider suits, and monster suits were designed a looong way in advance. There's only one company making them and I'd be surprised if they were really cranking out one per week. So even though I hear filming is about 2 or 3 months ahead of airing (as also stated above) I'd say preproduction in general airs well in advance. Especially when they have to schedule to film TV shows and films and net movies etc all at the same time.

This probably isn't Toei's schedule as of this writing. Double and Decade were designed at the same time explicitly because Decade was planned to be a half-year show. In order to have Decade's successor ready to go in time to air in the fall of that year, Toei had to have two totally different production teams working at the same time.

What is probably the case with OOO is that it entered pre-production (the design concept phase) after the time W began airing, but definitely before the show's midpoint. Fourze probably entered its pre-production phase at a similar point in OOO. So you have concepts finalized for the overarching brand around January, and then get to work on assembling the TV staff.

What about Sentai? The guy who told us correctly about Go-Busters being a three-man spy-based team with robot allies first posted here in September 2011. IIRC he said he'd seen toy designs/publicity stuff because he worked somewhere that would be selling or manufacturing the toys? But they must have made some changes, because he mentioned a few things that didn't make it to the show (such as the idea of Gorisaki throwing car tyres)

I think September 2011 would be around Gokaiger's midpoint, so that'd be a reasonable time for Toei to have finalized the concepts for Go-Busters. It does make me wonder at what point Takebe came on board, because she would've had to have done at least some work on OOO that overlapped with Go-Busters development if she was with it from the concept stage.

from what i understand, writing/planning begins two years prior to release. like when den-o began airing, kiva and decade were being planned out.
