What's with the Kamen Rider Orphans?

I've been watching the Heisei series, so far and in the middle of Kabuto, and in all of them their has been at least one orphan.

Kuuga - Yuusuke
Agito - Shouichi and Mana
Ryuki- Yui
Faiz - Takumi and Kiba
Blade - Kenzaki, Hirose, and Kotaro
Hibiki - Akira and Shuki
Kabuto - Hiyori
Den-O - Ryotaro
Decade - Natsumi
Double - Akiko

I haven't seen Kiva yet, so i don't know about that.Why do the writers fall back on this all the time? i understand that making a character an orphan can be used as motivation for the characters for revenge or strength or reasons to protect people, but it's just an overused cliche in terms of story telling.

Tragic circumstances is a staple in KR.

You rather it be rape? Cuz that's getting overused nowadays too.

That's just like the top superhero cliche. Mostly every superhero's an orphan and/or impossibly rich, and those are just little tricks used for convenience in storytelling.

Another thing is the sad child who's parents died the year before.

EVERY Toku series has this.

Parents are annoying for toku and fiction in general (at least for the lead protagonist). They'd just be in the way of the story and if there's a secret for the character's to keep it would involve writing around it near every episode/chapter/what-have-you.

Plus, Dead Parents=Freebie emotional points.

I think Kiva had a lot of them, too.

Wataru and Taiga become orphans when Taiga killed his mother. Megumi and Yuri both lost their mothers and who knows where their fathers are.
