What makes a great Tokusatsu show?

Ok, I want to know what your opinions are on what makes a great tokusatsu show? And none of this mentioning a certain series as your only response, I want to know what you think personally, like what elements are needed and such?

 

[Forever Knight]

Music
Dark/Epic Story (for my prefered Toku anyway)
Solid Characters
Lots of Drama
Lots of Action

 

[Bolt]

-Costumes
-Heroics
-Fights
-Characters that are actually interesting.

I really hate it when a toku show takes itself too seriously or become repetitive and episodic, and I think really dark stories only work if they involve a truly powerful villain/group of villains. It's also really bad when most of any given episode is drama that doesnt involve the main character(s).

Likeable characters with some kind of deep personality, a lot of character development, mystery and sub-plots (that tie into the main plot anyway), etc.

Costume designs
Fight choreography
Solid writing and plotlines
Older actors (sentai's been hit with a youth explosion lately)

1. Acutal actors (Just ask Shougo, lol)
2. No models, period. Unless Ayumi K comes back again.
3. Contininous (sp?) storylines/or plots
4. Less animals based series period....
5. Girls
6.Girls
7. Did I mention girls?
8. MORE ULTRAMAN, go**amnit.

I do believe in giving younger actors a fair shake, but sentai teams shouldn't all look like some boy-band or what have you.
