What ever happened to good old biking action?

And if you want that action and coolness of a bike and still with regards for safety, check the reverse trike.

But if you guys want to discuss story I think, if you guys want. I can make another topic but no flaming of course.

Well we are not talking about the style of story or having a good story.
It's about how Toei have completely forgotten the basic concept of Masked Rider in where a Masked hero fights evil with his trusty motorbike to help him out.

Yeah, the current Riders after Den-O seemed to have taken out the "Rider" in Kamen Rider.

If Ishinomori seen the Kamen Rider of today, he would turn over in his grave indeed. becos the bike is no longer there!

Look. I can imagine a lot of them are good Tokusatsus, but they are bad Rider shows.

Hibiki is the perfect example. Hibiki was a good show, but it was never meant to be Kamen Rider, which is what everyone says. Kiva and Den-o would have been spectacular had they not tried to force the Kamen Rider name down our throats.

It is called Kamen Rider for a reason. You can't take out an integral part of the show's very overarching image and expect us to treat it exactly the same way. That's ludicrous. Had they taken out the Kamen Rider name and just made it it's own standalone Tokusatsu, then I'm absolutely certain that they would getting a lot more respect

Why not? They've been doing it for quite awhile and it seems to work for them.

This is even assuming one agrees.

Ryuki: Not counting the Mirror World rides, the damn moped and Knight's sweet bike, the Survive Final Vent's require their bikes.

Faiz: Autovajin was not only used, but transformed, and held both the Faiz Edge and Faiz Blaster. The was also use of Jet Sliger and Side Basher.

Blade: The bikes were everywhere.

Hibiki: I can see that one. They gave him the bike after the fact, although Ibuki always had his.

Kabuto: I can also see this one, as they only use the Kabuto Extender... twice? And Tendou frequently just appears places instead of using any means of transportation.

Den-O: The DenBird was everywhere. Ryuutaros? *SNAP* DENBIRD! It was used to contrl the train. Hell, an Imajin use the bike against Den-O in an episode.

Kiva: You got the chase scene, you got the Buron Booster twice, and there have been a couple Riding Henshins.

So...where is the Rider missing? The bikes were used, just not in the manner you'd like. But they're there. They do play a part in most of the shows. Are there numerous bike riding and jousting scenes like the Black clip? Not really, but 1) they're still there and 2) it's pretty much a personal preference if you like that kinda thing.

In short, you want more bike combat, fair enough. But saying the series don't live up to the "Kamen Rider" name because they don't have any bike combat is silly. Technically, all they have to do is ride something. Anything. And they still gave us something.

Heck, some of the Ghost Riders' (to use your example) rode horses. And Blaze spends alot of time not riding his bike the current comic.

Wasn't Kagami always on his bike? Unless this is about the main riders.

"Ishinomori hates it!" tirade aside, there has only been one Rider after Den-O. And from the looks of it Decade may have the sorely needed bike action.

wait I remember that motorbikes are considered dangerous. I wonder if that was the reason why bikes are being used less and less

Toei should move its Rider productions to Sri Lanka then. Bikes a'plenty over there. I'll even ask my cousins and uncles to lend theirs :p

Hmm true it's written by Blade's writer...

But anyway, it's common knowledge that anything with only two supporting structures is a recipe for disaster.

Ryuki: The Rider Shooters are at best barely passable for being a bike. I think this is one area KRDK managed to improve on. I guess you can count the Survive Mode bikes but christ are those things ugly and don't even show up till much later on.

Faiz: With Autovajin they made alright use of as a bike but I've always been surprised they didn't do more a little more with it as both a bike and a mech. I think it was an underused 'character'.

Blade: Bike-Fu was back with a vengence. Even my hate for cards couldn't keep me from recognizing the level of bike action in this show.

Hibiki: Where Toei started to get really careless. Just having a character around who happens to own a regular bike is a lazy cop out.

Kabuto: I had high hopes for bike action going into this but this show has such a warped sense of priorities I'm not shocked bike action got lost in the shuffle. Afterall who would want to see bike action when we can grind plots to a halt to watch some crazed egotists play Iron Chef. :disappoin

Den-O: Where Toei proved they could be more careless than they were with Hibiki. Ugly Rider design all around including the bike. Plus so many other whacked out Bandai quota elements like the train and all, just meh. But I couldn't stand to watch more than a few episdoes of this thing to begin with but I seriously doubt bike action is anywhere near as high a priority for this series as the wacky antics of it's possessed bishounen idol.

Kiva: I couldn't get through much of this one either but just based on what you've said I'd have to say that in a show called Kamen Rider, bike action isn't something you should be seeing only once in a blue moon during the shows run. That's not to say every action or fight scene has to bike oriented but come on!

So...where is the Rider missing? The bikes were used, just not in the manner you'd like. But they're there. They do play a part in most of the shows. Nobody is trying to say it's the end all, be all of the entire thing BUT it's more than just a bike being around or a character who happens to own one. Kamen Rider is a superhero with a superbike. The "Rider" in the title is obviously in reference to motorcycles not just the act of riding something.

By the logic you're using he could be on a segway or a pogo-stick.
...I shouldn't give Bandai any ideas.

Heck, some of the Ghost Riders' (to use your example) rode horses. And Blaze spends alot of time not riding his bike the current comic.

Well then it's lame there to. What the point of having a hero with a superbike (or in this case a mystic bike activated by the spill of innocent blood) if he's never gonna use it?

Oddly enough, I felt they used the DenBird far more than they really needed to.

Correct, but they all have the superbikes. They do ride them occasionally. (Hibiki least of all) And the bikes usually get at least one fight scene. That's generally enough to warrant the Kamen Rider tag.

Again, wanting more bike action is fine, but saying they don't deserve the title is specious at best. (Which is funny, because not all of them - Kiva for instance - are ever referred to as Kamen Rider within the show itself)

I think you'll see a bit more bike action (at least in that people will ride them) in Decade, just from bringing back all the Riders.

Well then it's lame there to. What the point of having a hero with a superbike (or in this case a mystic bike activated by the spill of innocent blood) if he's never gonna use it?
That's the original Dan Ketch idea, which dropped later. Blaze doesn't even need to touch the bike to change anymore.
