Were there any toku stars who had martial arts experience?

T (IIRC, the riding and trampoline scenes were done by an actual stunt guy from the start; Fujioka did the basic fighting.)
It never crossed my mind once that they used trampolines for the Rider Finishers.:O_O:
Boy do I feel dumb.

The late, great Akira Yamaguchi (one of my favorite hero actors) is another actor with martial arts experience. He had minor experience in karate. Other than that, he looked like quite a natural in the shows I saw him in! If he was doubled by a stuntman (even in Zaborger; I can understand him having doubles as Riderman), I could hardly tell.

Some of the people from the '70s and '80s shows, who were martial arts actors with the Japan Action Club, and played heroes: Lisa Komaki (Goranger's Momo Ranger), Michi Love (JAKQ's Heart Queen), Kenji Ooba (Battle Kenya/Denji Blue/Gavan; did a lot of his own in-suit stuff), Jun'ichi Haruta (Goggle Black/Dyna Black; did a lot of his own in-suit stuff), Kouji Unoki (Dyna Blue; did his own in-suit stuff), Akito Oosuga (Bioman's Blue Three), Yuki Yajima (Bioman's Yellow Four #1), Sumiko Tanaka (Bioman's Yellow Four #2), Mai Ooishi (Change Phoenix), Kihachirou Uemura (Green Flash), Mayumi Yoshida (Pink Flash), Yuki Nagata (Yellow Mask), Megumi Sakita (Five Yellow), Koutarou Tanaka (Red Hawk), Yuuta Mochizuki (Tyranno Ranger/Kamen Rider J), Hiroshi Watari (Sharivan, Spielban), Hikaru Kurosaki (Juspion), Makoto Sumikawa (Spielban's Diana), Naomi Morinaga (Shaider's Annie/Spielban's Helen).

Actors who knew martial arts, off the top of my head: Hiroshi Miyauchi, Kazunari Hirota (Blue Mask), Takumi Hashimoto (Zyuranger's Tiger Ranger), Keiichi Wada (Dairanger's Ryuuranger), Kane Kosugi (Ninja Black), Shigeru Kanai (B-Fighter's G-Stag/Mega Silver), Masaru Nagai (Time Red)

When Susumu Wajima, the actor who played 7-Color Mask (Nana Iro Kamen) quit midway through the show and the studio searched for a replacement and finally cast a 19 year old Shinichi Chiba who would later become known as Sonny Chiba, this was also Chiba's first professional acting performance after winning a talent contest hosted by Toei Studios. Nana Iro Kamen was also Toei's first toku-hero show. He also did another hero show titled The Messenger of Allah (Allah no Shisha), playing an Arabian themed superhero.

Chiba also played Space Chief in the notorious B-Movie, Invasion Of The Neptune Men:

In addition to his acting ability, Chiba also has black belts in the following martial arts:

Ninjutsu - 4th Dan
Goju-ryu karate - 2nd Dan
Judo - 2nd Dan
Kendo - 1st Dan
Shorinji Kempo - 1st Dan
Kyokushin karate - 4th Dan (Trained under Mas Oyama himself, when Chiba was still a university student)

Did Tetsuo Kurata (Kotarou/KR BLACK) had any martial arts experience? It look he did I'm just wandering.

Do any of the 2000 & up toku actors (besides Mark Musashi) had any martial arts experience or do they just learn from the suit actors and choreographers during filming?
