In way this thread is making me feel uneasy, but at the same time I find it interesting to see the comparison between the two of us: our background, the path we’ve walked and the philosophy behind it is very different.
I can understand it must have been hard for you when people denigrated you. And I have a lot of respect for someone like you who kept chasing his dreams no matter the opposition.
Regarding your mom, you were a bit brief in describing the problem but I can understand that a lack of moral support from her made things harder. She didn’t give you a chance to study or learn a trade or something? If that's the case I can understand you not getting along with your mom (although I wouldn’t have gone as far as hitting her)
I can also understand you feel uneasy if you’re just hanging on by a thread at your job. But perhaps you should look at it this way: even by hanging on a thread, they’re keeping you. I got high praises for the projects I worked on both from the Japanese and European offices … but once completed, it was “Thanks for the great work; you can go back to where you came from now”.
Basically, I get a strong underdog vibe from your threads, which is probably how you must feel. But all you need is having someone introduce you to a language school, show your Canadian passport and you’re in. A Belgian person almost needs to get a PhD in order to land a job in Japan, since we don’t speak any language that's ‘in’ in Japan. From what I understand, and sorry if I misinterpret, you just kinda ‘rolled into’ your current situation, with a joke left and right. I get the impression you’re not taking all of it very seriously, which is fine. But reading about it made me feel uneasy, since I’ve put a lot of time and effort into career planning. It’s not your fault things turned out disastrously for me and I’m honestly happy for you that you were able to achieve everything you’ve achieved so far. It’s just painful to get this constant "I’m in Japan for Kamen Rider" or "I’m just checking out the cute chicks here" undertone, whereas other people take it very seriously and put in a lot of effort, but end up with their back against the wall.
Oh yeah, and I’ve lost the girl I wanted to marry for the sole reason I got canned.
So sorry for not laughing at your humorous Kamen Rider / hot chicks adventures in Japan.
Kyusaku, I'll have one of those prozac pills now, thank you.

I’m afraid time won’t make things right for me. I need to make some important decisions fast, which could have a huge impact on my future life. I wish I had more time to consider but unfortunately I don't.Bueno said:Things may not go your way sometimes but I feel you just gotta release. Life is too short to be spent moping. After all, doesn't time make all things good?
