Was Char's Counterattack Really That Good...?

It's not a perfect movie but I've always really enjoyed it. It has some real issues with pacing, since pacing has always been Tomino's weak point. Offsetting that is some really nice animation from GAINAX during most of the big fight scenes.

Well, it wasn't F91, lets call that a win.

But really, it was decent with good action. The plot really dragged at some parts, but iv'e sat through worse.

Also, i lol'ed a little at the ending.

Best Gundam Movie Ever Best Characters ever best Muisc in any real mecha movie since Macross 2

People still count Gundam as real mecha?

I thought it was a pretty decent movie, but it wasn't that great, especially not as a bookend to the whole Char and Amuro saga. I could never quite wrap my mind around how Char went from being the person that he was in Zeta to his character in Counterattack, even though a great number of years had elapsed, it just seems like too much of a stretch for me. That and the end. Oh lord that ending.

Note, this is coming from someone who found Trailblazer way better than CCA
It's really pretty good as a finale to the story of Char and Amuro and is truly a story worth watching. The ending though...yeah....

Agreed. This was my biggest issue, as Quatttro Bajeena he had turned into a likable and honorable character during Zeta, and then all of a sudden he was this crazy psycho killer. I felt there was no reason for what he did...which is my problem with all the early Gundam series, **** happens randomly

There are info floating around and games that can be considered canon that explains of how Char changed so much. A reason was that the Gryps Conflict gave him experience of the corruption of the Earth Federation and Titans and the loss of Kamille made him hate the Earth and his habitants.
