What is it with American production studios and the need to make everything look "realistic"?

This is exactly why Dragonball Evolution failed. Dragon Ball was never meant to be realistic. Not everything can look realistic.

That and the poor writing and bland actors (save for Piccolo and Grandpa Gohan).

It's not about making something realistic, it's about making it believable for a general audience. And while boxy 3d robots would probably cause a chain reaction of fangasms, it would end with the Voltron fanbase. The general audience is most likely to accept something that looks functional.

I'm with the majority on this one: That POS is NOT Voltron.

NOT Voltron.

It looks more like a GekiTohja reject than anything else. In any case, I hope this movie falls flat on its ass.

I personally think if you showed this to a casual, normal person who has never seen Voltron before, that person would also think they're looking at a piece of ****.

Same probably could have been said when the Michael Bay Transformers was just about to come out

I can't stand the Lions nor the combined mecha. And why do people want realism in these things? Naw nevermind, I don't even want to know.

Ugh. I still think the live-action Megatron looks awful. Optimus Prime looks pretty cool though.

I think what they should make a slightly modified version of the original version. Give it extra details or something. Take this 3D Optimus for example:

All they did was add extra detail to make it look a lot less cartoonish. Voltron should be the more or less the same. Make it as if Voltron was in a pre-rendered cutscene for a PS3 game.

But guys, keep in mind that this is only concept art, so don't worry cuz it's subject to change.
