so, it's only a matter of time before we get a new PR movie.

For some reason the design didn't remind me of Bay's Transformers at first. It reminded me of this

KIRYU!!!

For me, I don't hate the overall design, because it's different from the original. In fact, I've thought Voltron has needed an updated design for quite awhile. What I dislike is the attempt at making it too realistic. Voltron is a super robot. Making a super robot realistic defeats the entire point. They can add as much detail as they want, that's fine. It just needs to still look like a giant magic robot.

That's fine and all but you forgot an extremely important point: Hollywood doesn't give two fucks about super robots. Hell, you could translate super robot to them into "kiddy and gay".

Expect a post apocolyptic future, expect a sassy hot chick, expect the random thugged out black guy, expect Tittie-dick-fart jokes, expect the "extreme" ramping action scenes, expect everything to be gritty, hardcore, badass and "realistic". But don't come expecting anything remotely similar to the original show, it's not gonna be here.

Yeah, that's kind of my point. It's stupid. At least Bay knew not to change the core concept of Transformers.

You're basing all of this on how Transformers was handled. As far as we know no one from Transformers is on this project.

No. I was just making a point. Bay took plenty of liberties, but what made Transformers what they are, was still there.

My issue with the picture, has more to do with the direction it implies they were heading towards. It shows what appears to be the red lion climbing up onto Voltron to become an arm. It's more realistic, but takes away from the magical aspect of it.

It really doesn't matter though. The movie's been put on hold, due to the new cartoon. If it does well enough, I'm sure they wouldn't want to deviate too much from it.My

To convey its size. No real point of reference in outer space. Though I wouldn't be surprised to see a New York City brawl. Just based on these three images, it seems to be only a million times more inspired by Cloverfield than Transformers.

Interestingly enough, there was a rumor immediately after the initial trailer hit that suggested that Cloverfield was a Voltron remake.

I don't know if the art is referencing that or not, though.
