Veoh Finally Calls It Quits: Layoffs Yesterday, Bankruptcy Filing Soon

Sentinel King · Feb 13, 2010

Here's why:

Veoh, one of several well-funded start-ups that have tried and failed to cash in on the Web video boom, is finally calling it quits. The company let go of the remainder of its workforce yesterday, and sources say it plans on filing for Chapter 7 bankruptcy protection in the near future.

Veoh, which started as YouTube-style site, has struggled for years to find a business model that works and has burned through $70 million in funding from name-brand investors like Goldman Sachs (GS), Time Warner (TWX), Intel’s (INTC) venture arm, Spark Capital and former Disney (DIS) CEO Michael Eisner.

Very sad news! That's how I received a word from the source that informed me! That's just great. Now I can't watch anime from veoh anymore.

Now where will people watch TV shows?!

big_j_ny · Feb 13, 2010

Well guys, you can kiss those HK subs of Kuuga goodbye. Since those are the only subs available for the entire Kuuga series (since SCS Works and TVN are still way behind on the entire Kuuga series).

The same can also be said for the Agito subs as well........gone

All the good video sites die so easily.

Anybody remember "Stage6.divx"?

KAGEKI · Feb 13, 2010
