One more thing about Yuruchara Jigen's fall -- that was supposed to be a disgustingly sweet and cutesy character. Of course she's going to have a soft fall and not go big and hambone with it like an ordinary monster.

Well, Yuuichi Hachisuka's been playing female parts for almost 30 years, so...he can't have that much of a problem with it. Maybe he does playing a stupid character like Candyrella or whatever her name is, though.

I'm a Sentai purist, but I thought that Dino Thunder episode was a clever way to use footage that was absolutely unusable for Power Rangers. It was like Abaranger dared Power Rangers to use it, and Power Rangers showed 'em up.

You can get a glimpse of her 'idol' poster in the episode with the bone monster, and it's spelled 'Candellirra'

Well, my point was that both skits could be viewed equally. So, does that mean you liked the Dino Thunder skit and hated the Powerful Rangers skit, or did you like them both? :eyebrow:

I dislike Power Rangers for pretty much the same reason I dislike the American dub of Sailor Moon. It uses (mostly) the same footage, but changes the plot, removes character development and just generally makes it far worse.

Even the seasons that try to change the plot up are still constrained by the Sentai footage, which for me, makes it impossible to care about things like why they couldn't keep using the Zeo powers. There's not some deep backstory or canon explanation, they just ran out of footage and that kind of kills the immersion for me. They're using what we already have, but trying to do a slightly different story with dumbed down lines and bad acting.

It's not about being a weeaboo or hipster, it's just that PR for me feels like it's on about the same level as fanfiction.
