it is to be frank nothing but a Bandai toys infomercial....
with only perhaps the american ULTRAMAN POWERED series in 1993....it is the worst and cheapest ep 1 of any Ultra series in 50 years....
No patrols, no city in danger, no drama, the monsters will have no personality of their own...everything to be reduced to the level of a Pokemon battle contest...
Eiji Tsubaraya must be rolling in his grave...
The Ultraman themselves are reduced to dolls....with no other purpose than to sell the plastic dolls produced by Bandai....
IT WAS indeed a sad day when Tsuburaya sell out to FIELDS a Chinese corporation who owns the PACHINKO industry....
Next they lost their original offices (home of hundred of monsters suits) then it was the TOHO BUILT studio in whiu ep were filmed since the original series...
AS fans we are happy to see a new show and a new ULTRA WARRIOR which looks damn good...but that s about all they could afford a new ULTRAMAN costume...
The way its advertise...no new monsters will be created... they are all suits that were made from MEBIUS/ULTRA GALAXY...(2006-2009)
Even the new one THUNDER DARAMBIA is actually a reconstructed DARAMBIA suit from DYNA.
I think long time Ultra fans are being too harsh on a show that was so obviously setting out to do a quick action episode as the first episode. Even then, you're presented with a basic idea of who the characters are and get an interesting take on the mentor role with Taro's situation.
To say it's the worst first episode strikes me as such a knee-jerk reaction.
As usual, the "HARDCORE" fans are throwing a hissy fit. Not like it's never happen before, nobody give a **** anyway. Money talks, bullshit walks and please, don't throw that "true" Ultra fans **** around. Nobody give a flying ****

They complain when there's no new Ultraman series, and then complain when there IS a new Ultraman series despite Tsuburaya's current financial state. It seems they just can't win.
Personally, I'm just glad for something I can sink my teeth into. It isn't the full-fledged series I've been wanting since Mebius ended but it's something at least.

It isn't just confined to Ultraman. In any fanbase, there is bound to be a few people that will never be happy with anything given to them. They already have it in their minds the real "golden age" of their favorite show, and if it isn't that...it sucks. Unfortunately, they tend to be the most loud and opinionated.
