Tsuburaya's Last Five Years In Review (2006-2010)

And a guy in a spandex suit or a guy in a rubber monster suit is convincing?
Within its setting? Yeah. I'm talking about the basic quality of the production. It still should look like everything belongs in the picture, whatever genre or medium it is. Tokusatsu isn't a free pass to be poor productions because of how crazy it can be, I've always thought that's what it actually fought against in its early days. Sure, the original Godzilla is just Nakajima in a suit stomping around miniature cities, but everything at least looks like it belongs within the scene and doesn't clash horribly. This is why I really dislike a lot of Toei CGI and green screening, there are some shots that are hilarious, you'll have a daytime scene and because the character is green screen'd into the shot and isn't touched up, none of the shadows or colors are at their correct tones, hues seem buggy, and light sources just don't match up. I don't think it's just from an artistic point of view either, I've had a few friends always wonder why certain characters look too dark (because studio lights just don't cut it) in certain shots.

Yeah I understand you now. I just have come to expect bad CGI in toku, so I just over look it.
