Transfomers: Cybertron....What the

Honestly, the three other Japanes shows after G1 (Headmasters, Masterforce, & Victory) were pretty good. I think out of the three Headmaster was my least fav w/ Masterforce being my fav series.

Recently I can't stand any of the translated TF shows. I loved Car Robots, didn't like RID. I liked Superlink okay, but didn't like Energon. And I loved Galaxy Force, but hated the few episodes I saw of Cybertron.
And from what I've seen, Beast Wars II & Beast Wars Neo were pretty good.

So not all the Japanese made TF shows were crap. Just when they get translated over here

EDIT- Oh..and as far as TF dieing...[Hide] Optimus Prime didn't die. In fact he returned to life near the end of Season 3, and didn't die again until well into the Japanese Headmasters series. [/Hide]

But to think that G1 had these great plots and all these new fangled shows just suck in compairison is just stupid.

I agree with some of your points on G1 not being perfect, but the greatest shows are never perfect. JLU has had some **** (season one as JL) and I did'nt like Batman: TAS after the second season. Batman Beyond's second season is'nt a highlight either, yet THAT'S praised even when it has sloppy episodes, the excuse being "it's fun"

Which is precisly what G1 is in abundance. Fun.

The present state of animation, despite some of the shows sucking, is going back to that kind of mentality. When people thrash G1 for "cheesy plots" yet praise Teen Titans for doing the same thing reeks of hypocrisy. Titans is PRECISLY what G1 is, it has cheesy plots at times and also has incredibly well written storylines. Just like G1.

It's the same with the new TMNT cartoon, I love it for how serious it is and how close it is to the comics whilst carving it's own identity, but I consider the original superior for three things

1. Fun

2. Originality

3. Jokes that were tremendously tounge-in-cheek, funny, and contrbuted to the appeal of the premise.

Oh, and "The Golden Lagoon" and "Face of the Ninjika" are actually damn good episodes, despite the flaws behind the premise

I'm not saying that the G1 episodes were not fun. But when people usually compare the new TF shows to G1, they hold G1 up on this high pedistal saying that the episodes were all masterpieces and not as bad as the episodes of whatever new show they're talking about. Which is not the case. For as much as I love G1, there were just some God-awful episodes in there too.

I do agree, the second season commited the most crimes I think (except in a few episodes and the two-parters), the third not so much, the only flaw was that it had no budget for the animation and really stretched it.

The first season was more serialized and is the one those fans usually bring up in comparison with a full season of Micron Legend or Superlink.

If you actually watch G1 you know know Starscream is a good fighter, one of the top and Optimus Prime isnt invincable.

Starscream got owned by Megatron--a LOT, and Megatron and Optimus Prime are equals. (Any portrayal that shows them as less is incorrect.) So what do you think would happen if Starscream decided he wanted to be all hardcore and fighting Optimus motherfucking (that's his new middle name) Prime? He would get pwned.

None of that is any different from what I saw in Armada. The only thing you touched on that was close to being different was G1 having a real WAR. G1 (and GI Joe too, off-topic as that was) benefitted from being a big-ass toy commercial because that means they got to throw in hundreds of characters. Not only did you have your standard Transformers, you got Headmasters, Targetmasters, Dinobots, Constructicons, Aerialbots, Combaticons, Protecticons, Destructicons (I think their name was), Triple Changers, Technobots, Terrorcons, Fortress Maximus, Scorponok, Trypticon and Metroplex. The only show even close to that # of robots, IMO, was RID. A war has multiple factions on each side, people good at certain things, etc...Armada started out with.....what, seven Transformers? WTF is that.

Say wait.....if Megatron can "pwn" Starscream, why can't Prime? As far as the Decepticons having a real leader, when has Megatron NOT been an evil motherfucker who takes whatever he wants? Except in maybe Cybertron. The one thing the anime TFs have done right though is showing WHY Starscream doesn't like Megatron. Because he's an arrogant **** and his hatred/arrogance sometimes fucks up his good plans.

I mean everything about G1 the ORIGINAL AMERICAN transformers owns the **** out of this crap-fest Japanese Anime.

Cybertron? I watch it every now and then since Im up and Cartoonnetwork is always on my TV but I think all the TF animes are retarded.

Uhh....yeah. I think the plots and stuff are a bit stronger, though they're even stronger in their original JP versions.

I liked that Ultra Magnus wasn't trying to give Optimus head anymore. The one from G1 was a damned suck-up. I think it would've been even cooler if it had been like in the Japanese version, where instead of being pissed that he didn't get the Matrix and Optimus did, he just wanted more power.

What show are you talking about? Outnumbered? The Autobots SHOULD outnumber the Decepticons because they aren't battle robots, but they don't. I remember Armada. The Autobots were ALWAYS catching a beatdown. And the three most powerful Mini-Con weapons were usually in the control of the Decepticons, resulting in an even bigger ass-whipping. And Megatron not being a real leader? He led the Decepticons pretty well, and he really didn't take any ****. Do you not remember the Megatron/Starscream fight?

Starscream: All I ever really wanted....was your respect.

Megatron: ......*kills him*

They gave Starscream a character for once (other than maniacal, backstabbing asshole), but Megatron didn't seem to care. He just cared that Starscream was in his way, so he....."moved him".

Energon: I dont remember. Was this the one with the Kid who could sense Energon? And had the glowing hair and kick ass robo outfit? I liked that season it was ok. Bearable. They ruined the good name of Unicron. **** them.

That's the one. I stopped caring about Energon because they kept changing the fucking time, but this had the kid with the little costume and he could sense Energon.

I think he would....or have an entire damned Planet beat the **** out of him. I don't think Energon had any "collectibles", other than Energon. As far as Megatron being crap.....yeah, I don't think too highly of him this time. I'm glad Starscream took over but....**** there's a limit to how much he can do. Take down the ENTIRE Autobot army? And THEN fight Optimus? **** that.

......Do you have G1 on DVD or is this all just memories?

Well, despite all that, at the end of Armada he and Megatron threw down without anything but their own fists and maybe their own weapons and it was a kick-ass damned fight.

Not too many characters died in G1 either. Except, well, in the movie. :buttrock: (You got the Touch! You got the POWWWWWWWEEEEEEEERRRRR!!!! YEAH!)

Uhhh.....huh????? They died....in the MOVIE. But they didn't kill off all they many characters in the show.

.....Wha? This bit is a lot of "soap box", I think. And....as hyped as I am about one day buying G1, I'm MORE hyped about seeing Headmasters and Super God Masterforce, the first shows Japan made after G1 stopped.

You need to watch G1, along with the Japanese versions of the TF animes before you snap on them again.

Gah and you want to see REAL Cg TF action? Beast Wars. Bad ass TF show. CG and fucking awesome! Great story, great action, and kickin characters.

Beast Wars led to Beast Machines. Beast Machines is the biggest pile of **** ever written, and everything Japan has ever done fucking OWNS it. Turn Cybertron into an organic planet? Good job! Make it like every other planet EVER. Fucking morons. You wanna see how Cybertron should look in the past and in the future? Read The War Within. Now THAT'S Cybertron.

ok ok Im done ranting here. I just hate the TF Animes with a BURNING PASSION.

I dont understand why anyone likes them.

Because....they don't suck?

I gotta be honest....even I wanna see the Beast Wars anime. I fucking hate the original show. And that stupid-ass CGI **** too. But I might actually enjoy Second and Neo.

Didn't things like his happen in G1 as well?

He's forgetting that in Transformers: The Movie, Megatron was killed and brought back in a "more powerful form" as Galvatron. Along with some other Decepticons I really don't recall. Nevermind when Hot Rod became Rodimus. From a sports car to a....whatever the **** he was supposed to be.

And "Autobot Spyke", the whole frankenstien concept of that episode is excellent, in fact, the new TMNT recently tried doing that again only for FOX to ban it in America.

Wow that was in Armada?? Apparently I dont remember that. I only saw what was on Cartoon Network and probably not every episode. Just what I happened to see (which is most of it cause my TV is almost always on CN by default.)

That sounds bad ass, I want to see a clip of that.

I see a lot of people comparing G1 and Galaxy Force, which IMHO is a moot point since GF takes place in some alternate universe. I think this gives the writers enough liberty to change the characters as they want in respect to their G1 counterparts (it's not like this Megatron has any connection to the one in G1).

I am one of those people who loved G1 but at the same time enjoyed most of the Japanese TF's: HeadMasters I liked, Masterforce I loved! The last three series (Micron Densetsu, Super Link and Galaxy Force) I have also enjoyed very much. Still have to see Carrobot, but I have a good feeling about that one, as well as Neo Beast Wars and Beast Wars II.

Regarding Beast Wars I have mixed feelings. The beginning was interesting enough with good background and mystery a plenty ... but the later developments of the show (Beast Machines) turned me down ... the whole organic vs metal concept just didn't grab me.

Well actually, he was vaped by Unicron. But he and Galvatron did duel, and he did say all he wanted was the guy's respect....and Galvatron ran him through with the Star Saber anyway. Happened sometime in the last 12 eps.

But it doesn't matter. All shows, tied to G1 or not, will be compared to it because its the original. I don't care if they change the characters that much, personally. That said, it would bother me if Optimus suddenly started acting like Hot Shot and Rodimus became the leader of the Autobots suddenly.

Damn I wanna see the JP TFs.

I hated Beast Wars....if not because I always saw Transformers as vehicles first and animals second, then because it lead to Beast Machines. Which made it predictable, derivative garbage.
