Transfomers: Cybertron....What the

.....**** did I just watch?

Okay, I like to stay up late. REAL late. In fact, I haven't seen sleep since 1PM yesterday. I've started watching Cybertron for lack of a real (Read: G1) TF show to watch. Has anyone seen this? Or is anyone following this, 'cause I'd like to know what the hell its about? I've only seen this week's episodes. All I know is I saw Starscream take down a bunch of robot pussies, 'cause there's no way in **** he could fight the REAL Autobot army and beat them ALL. Then he went up against what I thought was Optimus (he has lips....that's a first) and lasted longer than 2 seconds.

I gotta be honest. I buy into the whole giant toy commercial deal. I love my giant robots, and I love when they can combine together sixty-billion times to create an even giant-er robot. (I'm in love with Dagwon.) But so far, that's all this show has going for it. (The scenes are good but....not believable.) I miss RiD (I actually liked that one, I don't care what everyone says) and Armada (which I bet was infinitely better in Japan since that version had a sensical plot and....y'know...FINISHED animation).

Anyway, is anyone following this ****, or has anyone seen it? I know it comes on late because Cartoon Network has been screwing over every mech/robot anime it's gotten since Gundam 0083, but I'm curious. Thoughts? Opinions?

If you actually watch G1 you know know Starscream is a good fighter, one of the top and Optimus Prime isnt invincable. That's what made G1 so bad ass. Both sides had strenghts and weaknesses and they didnt rely on Flashy One-Shot Power Blasts for attacks. It was a real war. Both sides had wins and losses. Some days the Decepticons actually won and stole away with their energon cubes. Some days the Autobots won. Both sides had set backs and real problems to work out. And the Decepticons had a REAL leader. One who didnt just bitch, he took charge. He was was a cunning bastard and back then Starscream wasnt quiet about his dislike with Megatrons leadership. And Megatron didnt care, he told Starscream to "bring it" and pwned starscream when he did try something.

I mean everything about G1 the ORIGINAL AMERICAN transformers owns the **** out of this crap-fest Japanese Anime.

Cybertron? I watch it every now and then since Im up and Cartoonnetwork is always on my TV but I think all the TF animes are retarded.

I think the only one that I thought was decent was... Energon? I cant remember now.

RID: All they did was make jokes. The only good that came out of RID is Scourge and Megatron. (That was one of Megatrons kewlest forms, I even bought the toy. 10 forms... thats bad ass. Well ok Galva had 10 forms, Mega had 8. I bought Galva cause I saw the commercial and was like "10 forms? Bull ****! I have to see how that works!")

Armada: sucked. Better animation and Megatrons new form was nice but again, the decepticons are horribly outnumbered its not even funny. The entire plot is one sided, Megatron just sits there and bitches. Hes not a real leader. The reaction times of all the human characters were unbelievably slow that it ticked me off. "Yay lets gasp and watch as a door SLOWLY closes! Ooo Aaah!"

Energon: I dont remember. Was this the one with the Kid who could sense Energon? And had the glowing hair and kick ass robo outfit? I liked that season it was ok. Bearable. They ruined the good name of Unicron. **** them.

Cybertron: I cant stand this one. Megatron is crap again. All the fights are lame. Its just "POWER UP! FANCY SUPER SPECIAL BLAST!!!" Whoopty do. And the plot.. AGAIN they have to collect ****. What the **** is with the Japanese and collecting **** for a plot? First minicons, then the star keys or whatever they were, now its the Cyber Planet keys. And oooh god if I have to watch that racing episode ONE MORE TIME. *rolls eyes* Where they have to race some bitch to get a cyber key. Guess what, the REAL fucking Megatron wouldnt put up with that **** he would destroy her and take the key. He wouldnt put up with this racing nonsense.

I dont see how ANYONE likes these shows. TF G1 was bad fucking ass and there's good reason for it. It had a great plot, great characters, and two sided battles. It was hardly ever one sided where Autobots always won with cheap super moves. No every battle was a hard earned victory. The Autobots werent war machines, they knew they were up against militaristic decepticons and they lost heavily int he beginning and slowly got better at battling them. And it wasnt just stopping the Decepticons, it was stopping their operations. So much effort went into it. Sometimes one side won, sometimes the other side one. Every Autobot had a strength and a weakness, every Decepticon had a strength and weakness and they were utilizied beautifully. The battles were decent, they didnt just "POWER UP!" and fire off a Special Laser blast. It was a REAL freaking WAR.

How can ANYONE stand this japanese **** they have out now. How. Man god bless the Japanese and their Anime and Tokusatsu shows. I love them and their very beautiful women but they are just ruining Transformers. It's sad when G1 (a 1980 american cartoon) is still better than any of the **** the Japanese can do. I know they can do so much better but they just got hack writers who continue copying the same cliche' BS in every new season.

Ugh... Dont get me started. Optimus Prime is a fucking joke in the new animes. All he does is power up and combine a **** load of times. I mean it's so sad. I watched an episode of Cybertron where it was like 5-7 autobots Vs THUNDERCRACKER... JUST ONE DECEPTICON. And they ALL COMBINED WITH THEIR STUPID FUCKING **** AND DID THEIR SPECIAL MOVE ON HIM!.

WOW... FUCKING... LAME! Thundercracker should have been DEAD but it was a "comedy" scene ala Teamrocket so he survived. Which lowers the believability of the ENTIRE series. NO ONE DIES. No matter how hard they are hit by a blast no one is inured and no one dies.

There was a time in Energon I think. Where Hotrod(I think thats his name. The yellow guy, was it him? or was it another guy..), well one of the Autobots got fucked up BAD by Megatron and the decepticons and he practically did "die" but he was brought back in a new "more powerful" form. *rolls eyes* god fucking dammit. G1 wasnt fucking afraid of killing off characters. That's why it was believable. Autobots AND decepticons got fucking injured or KILLED (especially in that movie, dayum!)

You want to see REAL transformers? Watch G1 people. Watch it and WEEP cause it owns everything the JApanese **** out SO HARD.

Psycho, TF came from Ja-

Before you say it, no it didnt. Idea of the toy line came from japan, started in AMERICA, by Hasbro. It became a comic series to help sell the toys and the comic was turned into a US Cartoon TV show. Produced IN AMERICA. I heard rumors that it was a Japanese studio but that doesnt effing matter. It was still produced IN AMERICA, and if you watch you notice the Cartoon Characters of G1 move their mouths to sound out the syllables. They dont just "flap" like every Anime does. American cartoons sound out the vowls and syllabls. Japanese just flap the mouth open and closed.

Its all fucking America baby. And Japanese did their little takes of the show and continued the seasons after G1 stopped in america. I havent seen any of the older Japanese versions, I dont think I WANT to. But I hear the older ones arent that bad. (NOTE: If I'm wrong somewhere, you need to Link me to official sources, cause I have read around to several sites, they all say the same thing. I'm always worried that I'm wrong like I was wrong about Power RAngers. Used to think that was American too until I found out about Sentai. But everywhere I read says the same thing. AMERICA. And **** we did it RIGHT. Japanese need to watch G1 and take notes.)

Gah and you want to see REAL Cg TF action? Beast Wars. Bad ass TF show. CG and fucking awesome! Great story, great action, and kickin characters.

ok ok Im done ranting here. I just hate the TF Animes with a BURNING PASSION.

I dont understand why anyone likes them.

Watch Galaxy Force, even though it's what Cybertron came from, they're two vastly different shows. It was rewritten for the American version, and I liked GF better than even G1 myself. TVNihon's subbed all of GF and like two or three of the 80's-early 90's anime, give those a watch. I don't see how you can hate all TF anime when from what I can tell, you've only seen four of them, and badly dubbed and edited at that. Out of the 10 Transformer anime, only four have been brought over, and of those four, only two were good, and of those two, neither had a good dub.

The GOOD TF anime, Beast Wars Second, Beast Wars Neo, Masterforce and it's sequal Victory, Galaxy Force were all great shows. The last three which are all subbed by TVN, so they're easy to get. RiD is a guilty pleasure of mine, even if it didn't have the best story, I loved the designs for the Transformers, that's where it really exceled.

The main reason Cybertron sucks is because it's supposed to fit in the Aramada and Energon timeline, while in Japan, Galaxy Force was it's own thing, not tied to any other series. Give Masterforce and Galaxy Force a try, they're both great examples of what the TF anime can be and both are subbed by TVN so it's not like it's hard to find.

Didn't things like his happen in G1 as well?

As for the matter of G1, it was a joint deal. Animated in Japan, scripts written in America. You generalise way too much, there's a lot of studios in Japan that animate differently, the good ones at least.

Japan DID produce occasionally breathtaking footage for certain episodes. "Call of the Primatives" and "Return of Optimus Prime" had better budgets than most of the third season

As for Galaxy Force, I think it's overrated, all I get is that it uses a War Within design for Starscream, and actually makes children essentially a benefit more than a hinderance or a group of can-do-no-wrong individuals that save the day single handidly. The rest is a poorly written mess.

I loved the early TF animes, the ones mentioned above, Headmasters is'nt anything great, but is decent for a first effort etc (wait until you get to Sixshot vs Ultra Magnus), when it gets to Micron Legend/Armada, it was on it's way to becoming a sad, sordid series of bad writing, worse animation, and crappy characters. Then it became much better in it's latter episodes, even if it did make Starscream a wimp.

G1 and Beast Wars are still the undisputed examples of animated TF done right, whilst Furman's G1 comics are just TF done right PERIOD.

Ya know. I just laugh when people get a huge hard on for the G1 cartoon. Because they always bring G1 had better plots than any of the shows now days. When was the last time you actually WATCHED G1 from start to finish? G1 had a LOT of episodes that were just insane plots. Most of these episodes happened in Season 2.

So let's take a trip down memory lane at the Holy G1 plot points...

Season 1
-Fire on the Mountain. The Decepticons use a HUGE bug crystal that can shoot electricity out of it's ass.

-War of the Dinobots. Three Dinobots are just too much to handle and out of control. What do the Autobots do?? Build two more. Cause when something doesn't work...building more of it usually helps.

Season 2
-Autobot Spike. Right off the bat the first episode deals w/ putting Spike's mind into a Frankenstine monster type Autobot.

-A Decepticon Raider in King Arthur's Court. The bots go back in time and play knights.

-The Golden Lagoon. Fun down at the local golden watering hole

-Make Tracks. Tracks takes time to teach some youths that stealing is wrong.

-Kremezzk! A little spark monster creates havoc in the world.

-Sea Change. Seaspray changes into a mermaid.

-Auto-Bop. Strange things are a foot down at the local dance club

-The Girl Who Loved Powerglide. A chick wants to get it on w/ Powerglide and at the end we see that he has a heart shaped heart inside him...awwww

-Hoist Goes To Hollywood. Hoist becomes a movie actor.

-Aerial Assault. The Decepticons are stealing car parts to make a giant griffin. A GIANT GRIFFIN!!

Season 3
-Suprise Party. Awwww no one knows Ultra Magnus' birthday..I know, let's give him one!

-Madman's Paradise. Daniel gets bored and finds another world w/ two wizards fighting.

-Carnage In C-Minor. Concidered one of the WORST G1 episodes. About singing and windchimes.

-Thief in the Night. Decepticons have to steal world landmarks to appease a middle east guy for his oil.

-Nightmare Planet. The Qintessons use Daniel's nightmares against the autobots.

-The Face of Ninjka. Percepters Autobot symbol is used as the face of a Japanese looking female robot...too bad we're not in Japan kids.

Now don't get me wrong, I LOVE G1! I grew up watching Transformers after school. But to think that G1 had these great plots and all these new fangled shows just suck in compairison is just stupid. All the TF shows have their good points and their bad points.

With G1, Beast Wars, & Beast Machines, Hasbro and the writers could pretty much do what the wanted for stories and animation. When importing the cartoons over here after they were shown in Japan, things had to be rewritten and plots had to be invented out of the confines of the animation of the show. And that's where the trouble lies of these newer shows.

My point is G1 was FAAAAR from being cheasy itself, and hardly had steller plots at times.

Yes, G1 had its fair share of filler, but still when it rocked, it rocked hard, IMO. I liked eps like Sea Change and The Girl Who Loved Powerglide, because for me, it's not about the overall cheesiness of the eps--it's the pure nostalgia factor. And I just don't get that same kind of enjoyment out of all these anime versions.

I do, because a lot of the JApanese studios animate the same way. The style is different, or there's a different art director or animation director on board. Or different script writers but they all seem to pull from the same creative pool and it becomes boring after a while and predictable. At least, that's for the TF animes. All the TF animes just feel the same to me. The characters look different but have the same attitude, the same personality, persona, nothing different about them. They evolve a LITTLE differently. Example, they like to mix up starscream every now and then and do something different with him but he always starts out the same.

I suppose I should give the subs a try. People always mention that to me, that the sub is way better but I'm always leery of that.

I havent seen every episode of the last season of G1 but for the most part, when an Autobot died.. they stayed dead. Decepticons were a bit different. since in the movie, a lot of decepticons were damaged (not dead) and revived with new forms thanks to Unicron. But for the most part, no, in the G1 era when a Autobot or Decepticon died (really died) they stayed dead. Then again, I havent seen EVERY episode. Just season 1 and most of season 2.

Last Month actually, and loved every freaking minute of it. I think I watch the original TF cartoon several times each year. Ever since I got those dvd boxed sets, I keep myself into it.

Wow Bravo. Lol, I'm not going to pretend G1 in it's entirety was perfect. Some of the plots were silly but I'm saying the overall plots, they were good. I loved them, they are definitely more fun to watch than the new stuff.

I admire the fact you were willing to go into that kinda detail to make a point. Helps your case a lot.
