Top 5 Ugly Rider Suits

I actually disagree with you on that, but this is just a discussion about opinions on the designs anyways. With the way the story rolled, I think by making them look different benefits the story, audiences can differentiate them. Blade and Garren were the first, Chalice is the mysterious one that doesn't look like Blade and Garren, and Leangle is the last rider to debut. It makes sense when put into context, maybe they wanted a "OMG OMG NEW RIDER! OMG HE'S GOLD AND GREEN!!" reaction from the audience when designing Leangle.

Then again, reading about the process of design and production of W, maybe they did the designs in advance and then fit the designs into the story which would then be a pretty good job, since Chalice and Leangle are different from Blade and Garren. Anyhow, the design fits perfectly for the show so I am not complaining, if the 4 of them were designed and debuted at the same time, 2 of them looked different and the story never addressed why they looked different then yeah, I would be complaining.

Speaking of which, anyone know whether the Delta belt was created alongside Faiz and Kaixa?

Too bad you had to bring up ego. :rolleyes2:
Both sides are quieting down now so I don't see anymore reasons to point fingers at each other man.

And again, they're not from the same team, they just happen to have a common enemy... In fact, near the end, they're still kicking each other's asses.[/QUOTE]
How much I hated that arc for being too long. :(

OOO never appealed to me, and oh man, am I the only one who felt neutral about Eternal when we found out about him? D:

Yeah, precisely this. If the suits were too common in design, people would wonder "hey, isn't Chalice supposed to be an Undead? Does that mean Blade and Garren's Rider System is an exact replica of the way Chalice scans the Rouze Cards?" which isn't the case since what BOARD did was merely copy the ability of a Rouze Card and take advantage of it using technology while Chalice uses supernatural means. If Leangle's design is the same as Blade and Garren's, then people would wonder "hey, isn't he supposed to be the strongest and newest Rider? Why does he look the same with the first two?". The design worked with the story, if they changed it, then there's a chance it wouldn't work. Personally, I also hated Leangle's design, it was too bulky for me, but it's uniqueness fit its role... I just wished they used a different color scheme or something, but I guess they had to use green for the suit of Clubs and gold to represent his strength.

Delta was supposed to be the first one to be created, which is why it's the strongest, but lacks functionality. Faiz was created next to balance out the power and functionality, then Kaixa since they wanted to augment the functionality and make it more state-of-the-art, hence having more equipment than Faiz.

Both sides are quieting down now so I don't see anymore reasons to point fingers at each other man.

I know, I just hate it when people try to wash their hands even though they're the ones who started causing trouble.

As usual, I never really judged a suit before seeing it in-action, I just had this feeling that Toei was being cheap with suit design since Eternal initially looked like just a repaint of W's suit with changed eyes and huge lying-down 'E' on the forhead which doesn't really stand out since it's white too... Then my decision not give it final judgment paid off, since I enjoyed Eternal in the movie.

Green seemed natural after red, black and blue. yellow will not be a good idea to go with gold, white maybe? But then again that might look a bit too majestic and royal to go with that super long arc near the end of the series. Not to mention green and gold doesn't look half bad anyways. Purple eyes on the other hand, never got used to it.

Funny, aside from the Dragon Orphenoch using Delta, I never found it to be strong or anything, sure it was portrayed as strong but yeah, I haven't watched Faiz in a long while though. Watching the DVD subs version from TVN but their updates are slow and after watching episodes from post episode 30 of Hibiki? I don't feel like watching/reading anything that is from Inoue.

I don't know, I was pretty neutral about Eternal after watching the movie too, he sure doesn't top Shadowmoon for me, but he sure doesn't suck like OOOs to me.

Let's just let bygones be bygones. :D

I think the sole design I've looked at and hated would be Kamen Rider Shuki.

A Kamen Riders with a skirt. I need to say nothing more.

That's less to do with the power of the Delta suit and more to do with the fact that Mihara was absolutely useless. It was like giving a toddler a bazooka - it's still a powerful weapon, but he's not going to be able to use it effectively.

I agree, but this isn't necessarily a bad thing. I mean I think the show went for the angle they did with a weak-willed Mihara naturally blending with Delta was to emphasize that his state sort of what made Delta "controllable" if one might say, since it tended to corrupt most users after having intense power surging through their bodies. The only real problem is... The show lacked in giving Mihara much of proper character development, which made him easily slide into the background.

Its not like that at all, you don't have any idea what youre talking about. Gundams and zakus have no relation to each other than both being mobile suits, they arent members of the the same team, and are not a part of a bigger design motif overall. In my opinion chalice and leangle looking the way they do only "because the plot says so" is not enough. The 4 dont look like they belong together which i believe they should as a part of the playing card motif.

Thats my personal opinion and i don't see why you guys have to get all defensive about a suit just cuz i don't like it. Context or no those suits just don't do it for me. Its not like i don't know what i'm talking about i am a graphic designer myself after all, and while i'm not saying that makes me right and you wrong, i am saying that i don't have to like something thats clearly not that well designed just because the plot says so.

they're different because they're riders... and riders are always being portrayed being individuals with different personalities and their suit shows how they are different from the rest of the other riders... they are, and would probably be, always marketed as a stand alone hero(oes)..

if you want to see heroes of the same costume but just different colors, then go watch power rangers... they even do cheesy group poses for you...:)

^Not necessarily. Look at series like Kamen Rider Ryuki, the design has a consistency, all of them were based off of knights and all of them has those gear hold thingy all around their body. They were individuals, but they managed to keep a consistency in design. ACTUALLY, it might be nice to see a rider series with a team of Riders that looks a like to fight evil, given that there's no Inoue-branded-duramas, a la Kamen Rider Ichigou and Nigo! :D

I'm in support of female Kamen Rider, don't see anything wrong with skirts. But eh, Shuki's design sucked anyhow.

Hm probably, I wasn't so into Faiz anymore at that point since I was sick and tired of figuring out what those HK english subs are saying. Not to mention the last fight and ending were lacklusters.

Corrupt?? Did it? I don't remember, but I do remember that Mihara really did come in too late and got too little character development.

While I agree with your point, let's take into consideration that ALL the Ryuki decks had the same source, Shiro Kanzaki... Blade Riders on the other-hand, didn't have the same source, which explains why they shouldn't exactly need to look alike.

It's the face and the color choice. face would have worked given the Oni-theme, but the color choice that made it look like a clown.

It did, watch the show again. The early users from the Ryūsei School developed minor Orphenoch telekinetic powers and attacked their own comrades.

I honestly didn't really liked the face of Shuki much. =/
