Apparently Sheryl was lots more popular with Japanese Macross Frontier fans than Ranka. I always found this sort of odd since MXF's early marketing clearly was pushing Ranka as the girl you should like. The movies certainly push Sheryl as the more important character, but in kind of a trollish way.
