I'm sorry to say I can no longer enjoy toku shows such as Super Sentai and Kamen Rider.
You may ask yourself why can't Chaos enjoy shows about people clad in spandex fighting rubber suited monsters? Well the answer is real simple really, they promote violence and hatred towards monsters.
Monsters in our society already have enough to deal with. In a society that deems them villainous, shows like Super Sentai and Kamen Rider are not doing anything to cease the hate crimes and the violence, but rather they are increasing it, epically in children.
Children are very impressionable, and when they see the next kickbutt hero on TV, they want to be just like them. The difficulty with this is that the shows portray the monsters as dispensable soldiers the villains can send out every episode. Most of the time, the monsters are characterized by being evil and sinister and having no remorse for their evil actions. This couldn't be more from the truth.
I've been a supporter for monster rights for a long time now, and I've made close personal monster friends. Despite what society thinks of them, they spend their lives contributing to it in a positive way. They don't go around blowing up buildings are attacking innocent civilians, they take part in charity and work in soup kitchens for homeless people and monsters.
Does this look like the face of evil to you?
Despite their charitable actions, the amount of bullying and teasing towards monster children in the schools has been on the rise. Countless innocent monster children who just want an education get scrutinize for being who they are. Toys that are made based on the shows help to promote further monster violence in the schools.
A blaster for killing monsters. It only makes monster children more scared to come to school.
Now I ask you to stop this wave of violence. Petition to the show makers to instead of blowing up the monsters with giant robots at the end of episodes, to talk out their differences and beat evil with hugs. Instead of monsters being portrayed as heartless killers, to emphasize the good they do in society. And to teach our children that monster bullying is not ok.
