TMNT General

:redface2:

It was...........TOTALLY unfaithful to the 80's cartoon

Please... I watched eps of that show recently and I can tell the movie was way more faithful than your recollection of the serie. They laid it on thick a bit at first with the Turtles themselves but in the end the 87 Turtles were still heroes and still fought to save the day so I say that counts for something.

In the 80s series the Turtles were a bunch of goof balls and Shredder and Krang were just as innefective as their underlings. They deserved Bebop and Rocksteady.

New info and "early release" art for the Nickelodeon incarnation.

Also, Alex Deligiannis, the character designer for the series, confirmed these designs on his Twitter. Here's his quote:
Yup, the #TMNT image accompanying the WSJournal Nickelodeon article is official. Them's the turtles!

And a fan-written article for good measure. (For example, the weapon Michelangelo is wielding is a "Kusarigama" or "chain sickle" rather than a Nunchaku. Whether this is a replacement, an addition to the arsenal, or them downplaying his typical weapon set is unknown.)

Edit: A few more tweets from Alex Deligiannis

Here's a "sneak peek" (aka very few "shots" of the characters and a city backdrop) of the Nick version. http://insidetv.ew.com/2011/03/10/teenage-mutant-ninja-turtles-nickelodeon/

Of note is that now in addition to Michelangelo wielding a chain-sickle, Donatello is also wielding some variant of a spear/bladed staff. I guess they're adding/expanding the arsenal by "theme" (Mikey using "chain based" weaponry, Don using "pole/staff based" weapons, etc.), but that still isn't 100% confirmed yet. It also is a bit odd that they're simultaneously advertising it as being "funnier and ninja-ier," which would allude to a "Lighter and Softer" or "Silver Age-ish" approach akin to the 1980's Cartoon, and yet the visual style is much more "grittier," reminiscent of the Mirage or 2K3 incarnations, albeit fairly simplified.

Also another press release blurb about the series has appeared. Here it is in context:

But to get right to the point:

And lastly, supposedly it's been revealed that Leonardo's voice actor will be Jason Biggs. (I'd take it with a grain of salt though.)

Some details on the Nick series as well as the "pilot" animatic have been revealed

[hide]Baxter Stockman is still black
-April is now a 16 year old girl Donatello has a crush on
-The Foot will begin as humans, but will eventually become robots controlled by Krang
-The episode has a LOT of comedy in it, Baxter is defeated quite comicly too when Leonardo drives a bee hive into a robot suit he's wearing.
-Splinter is Hamato Yoshi, not his pet rat, just like in the original cartoon[/hide]

You're entitled to your own opinion just as much as I am :redface2:

As taboo as this is going to sound, I've actually sat down and started rewatching Next Mutation after some encouragment from TurtleGirlIvey (the biggest TMNT geek in the world)

It's actually not half bad except for their version of The Shredder

Music is pretty kickass as well

Krang will be in it, in fact, his very race is called "The Kranng"

Words can't begin to express the serve dislike I have for this cartoon already.........

my thoughts.

-Baxter is black- okay that what he was originally
-April is 16 with donny having a crush on her- okay we get to let the D-man show his moves
-foot is robot- do not like this idea
-Comedy- this situation it self, I'm not really big on but maybe it depends on how it is done.
-Splinter is Hamato Yoshi- I don't know, I actually like splinter as the rat *fan of the comics*

----------

My favorite Tmnt still would have to be the comics, I really grew out of the old 87 cartoon
