TMNT 2008 Series News

The latest 2008 TMNT series pitch has been turned down by Playmates. The concept would have seen the Turtles returning to their own time, but in the premiere, accidently meet their youger selves and bring them back to the preset (2008), where they team up to battle an evil Digital being intent on conquering the realm of cyber-space.

Rugrats? DIGIMON? And MIRAGE APPROVED this?

Playmates pitched their own idea, something closer to the original series and the ARCHIE comics, and THEY were turned down by MIRAGE and 4Kids.

What a flippin' mess -.-

I like it better then the fast foeward concept and besides this means we get the turtles back with characters like Kurai and the Ninja Tribunal. Also Bishop.

But we'd get annoying baby Turtles with childish diaper jokes and the action would be greatly compromised to keep the younger characters either out of danger, or have them save the day.

In any event, it's not happening anyway. We're back to square-fucking-one. I'd love it if they would just have a season with a title that reflected the arc, not a gimmick.

true :bawling: I just want less gimicks and new stories, but then again who knows how this will turn out.

well, this sounds like how the 3rd and 4th season went really, where they where all self contained stories within the world that fetured elements like time travel, monsters, aliens and what-nots, so in contrast to everthing in Turtle cannon, Cybernetics and Digital villians seems natual. Would be great if said Villain was Bakster Stockman.

I hope they just re-do and update the original series with Shredder, Krang, Bebop, Rocksteady, etc...

that's hands down the most popular and the only one people remember.

Problem is we ALREADY know what will happen to Stockman and Bishop in the future >< we can't have them show up as villain since we know they'll never be defeated *SIGH*

Why don't just make a spin off featuring Silver Sentry and his gang of super heroes?

If they want a gimmick so badly it's because they need new toys to sell.

Wait a minute what if the writers are also doing this so they can clear up the futrure and say that this time travel accident cahnge the future so much that it an unkown? You know them being there changes the future.

Playmates's pitch was supposedly close to that, (they read the fanbase forums and market the toylines to a majority of them similar to Hasbro market some of their toylines to Transfans), they may have wanted to include ARCHIE characters like Ninjara and the Future Shark storylines. Peter Laird, having never co-created far more noticable concepts of course, turned it down.

It's a disgrace, Laird has ARCHIE's writers working on "Tales of the TMNT" presently applying their work to HIS canon and made promises of publishing the never released ARCHIE storyline "The Forever War", and no progress has been made on it.

An update on Playmate's pitch: They wanted to reboot the entire series but base it on a loose amalgamation of the original cartoon series, ARCHIE, and MIRAGE. Splinter would have been Hamato Yoshi again. Laird turned the idea down based on those errors in the idea.
