This just needs to be said...

Mr. Underachiever

Is not impressed right now...
I've been reading posts on BentaBoard lately, and while one poster says some pretty stupid ****, he did say something VERY intelligent in an earlier post, and I feel like people (ESPECIALLY on this board) don't realize this...

Disney, like Saban, is in it for the money. I don't know where this myth that Saban was trying to make compelling children's programing comes from, but it's a farce.

power rangerz iz serious buisnez

Seriously, though. If people here claim how much they hate Power Rangers, instead of bitching how about just now watching it?

I think he is right, but the only thing about Saban's mentality that was good was that it was "Go all out, or Go home." (Above average-Grade in the 90's) when with Disney it's "Let's do just enough to get by" (Average or below-Grade in the 70's sometimes failing in the 60's, see Overdrive.)

The thing though is that Saban NEEDED the Rangers to do money. It was their HUGE hit and all that, so they took special care of it, put their A-team on it and everything.

For Disney, PR is just a red-haired foster kid. It brings the dough but its also difficult to advertise as part of the "Disney family" because of the image of violence and how it could cause damage to their squeaky clean image.

Also Haim Saban himself was a fan of Toku, he always wished he could have brought the Space Sheriffs series uncut. True story!

Plus prior to PR, Disney didn't have any experience in dubbing or adapting Tokusatsu in the past. I cannot think of any other Tokusatsu adaptation from Disney that isn't PR.

Something I've always wondered. You would think that big execs out there would have learned something in the, how long has TV existed? Not sure, I'm not good at math. Anyway, you would think that they would have learned by now that if you make a show that is GOOD, people will watch it. And if they watch it, they will want to buy the stuff that goes with it.

Thats just my opinion on the whole thing.
