THEY SHUT DOWN MEGAUPLOAD!!!

Gosh...I'm hoping it has to be better than 90% of the new crappy file sites that has popped up since MU went down though.

You have to admit that they are at least options to those whom need the services.

The issue with the MegaUpload services is that the government, like with other instances, bent to the will of the MAFIAA and instead negatively affected the people whom used these services for legitimate purposes other than illegal downloads.

Those whom know the way around the system will never be affected as they will find newer ways around the restrictions , but as with anything else, these sorts of deals only affect the law-abiding citizenry whom have their property taken in some perverted crusade that links copying a file to stealing the actual master of said material.

The corporations fail in their understanding of capitalism ,saying they face "losses" and use fear and propaganda to push their goals. In reality, you can never lose what was never earned in the first place and thus those whom pirated were not really their profit base at all.

Some of these corporations have seek ways and have implemented various solutions to the issue of supply in most places of the world, but some like in Japan have not really adapted it and stay in the antiquated notions, losing out on the digital format.

The remaining issue with much of legislation is the corporations' cronyism and wanting to establish a highly regulated tiered system where they have control, and the only way it can happen is by the removal of rights and censorship.

If there is no competition, there is no change for the better.

It won't...........if anything, it'll follow the trend of those 90% of file sites that basically nerfed down their DL/UL speeds in order to "discourage piracy" as they say.

There is a reason why Rapidshare's speeds went to **** after MU got shutdown, and the reason why the other remaining file sites (Fileserve, FileFactory, Depositfiles, etc) have also nerfed down their speeds to basically "an overnight stay at a Motel."

When Mega comes back, it'll follow the same trend as damn near everyone else...........unless they wanna get caught again

It is, and it isn't. While Mega's default upload encryption feature is a good idea, they outright state that they keep track of usage & traffic, and will give that information, along with your registration information & IP address, to authorities if they deem it necessary. As in, when the subpoenas come rolling in.

So, while your uploads themselves may be as "secure" as a code key can allow, your identity is not. And the way so many people just love to name their uploads to indicate exactly what they are, I see the entertainment lawyers having a field day with this.

Yeah, I don't really see all that many people using it except for regular cloud storage and not in the broadest sense of "file sharing" like one would hope for with such a service

I honestly think I'll just stick with MediaFire

It's called giving files different names and making it harder to open on their end if there's suspicion. Also, aka, using crytographic practices and hiding such files in plain sight.

Since people don't have common sense and probably shouldn't be uploading in the first place, it comes with the territory.

I just scanned through the article, and I didn't read anything about them bringing back the files that were lost from the original MegaUpload. So correct me if I am wrong, otherwise I called it. No one is going to care about the new MegaUpload replacement. And the fact that there will be a lack of identity privacy is just the icing on the rotten cake.

There are only 3-4 new posts so far within 8+ hours after it was announced that the new "Mega" is back................people have already moved on LOL

Tell that to the supposedly 10,000+ user registrations they were getting each hour on the first day alone.
