The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (ALL) - Talkback

Watched 1 and 2 so far. I thought Pt.1 took way too long to get into the crazy **** but when it did it was really fucked. I cheered when that annoying **** Franklin got killed.

Pt.2 was the one I remembered from when I was a kid. I liked how it had the connection with Dennis Hopper's character to his brother and the missing kids from the first movie. But other then that it was ok.

Up next is Pt.3, then the remake, and the beginning. I'm not sure if I should even bother with The Next Generation from what I've heard about it.

Next Gen will make you hate your life. Leatherface (Part 3) is pretty OK. Glad you liked the original. I agree about Franklin. After all these years, we finally have an action figure of the Hitchhiker ("It's a good picture!!!").

The remake and The Beginning are kind of a mixed bag. On the one hand, they are completely bleak and intense. On the other hand, 5 years after they were first released, just about EVERY horror movie is bleak and intense now. Kinda like going back and watching Scream after all these years. Hard to separate it from its imitators.

Also, you should get a Chop Top action figure. (he comes with 2 different heads, coat hanger, cigarette lighter, boom box, and a razor. "Hear that? That's death eatin a cracker.")

I want an LG action figure. With fry house.

The Hitchhiker from part 1 is dead. In fact, he shows up quite a bit in part 2. He's the corpse that they keep dragging around. They call him 'Nubbins'. The story goes that Chop Top, the metal plate guy, was off fightin in Nam when the first TCM was happenin. He came home early, after having his noggin hit with a machete, only to find his little bro been run over by a truck. So, he dressed him up in fatigues and carried his body around.

This is a hilarious sentence and really sums up the kind of fucked up **** the TCM films are about. :laugh:

nothing compares for sheer messed-up-ness to Bill Moseley using his brother's corpse like a puppet, running around and screaming 'NAM LAND!!!' After that movie, I can handle anything.

No doubt about it. It really is some messed up Redneck Psychopathic ****.

I live about 90 minutes from Plainfield, WI, where the Ed Gein murders happend in the 50s. Gein was kinda the loose inspiration for Leatherface. He never used a chainsaw, and only killed a few people. But he did make a suit out of human skin, and they found furniture made from bones in house. He had made lamp shades from skin, and necklaces out of ears. There was also plenty of human meat in the fridge.

So I don't know if that's the reason, but these movies always seem to get to me more than most slashers. Growing up, it was always this urban legend-like story. But it was true. some of the details changed for TCM (like the state it happened in), but it's just craziness. There have been few people that crazy since. I mean, looking at how awful the world is today, Gein's actions still are abhorrent to us. Imagine how it must have effected the 1950s, Leave it To Beaver, malt shops and sock hops America.

There's something much more disturbing about someone ravaging a corpse than simply killing them, especially when we've all become so desensitized to hearing about murder anyway. Things like necrophilia, cannibalism, and graverobbing are so shocking because it really shows how dark and twisted the human mind is capable of being.
