The Split Timeline of Zelda

I was going to put this in the Gaming section, but since I think this is more about time travel than of Zelda

A lot of people believe in the split timeline of Zelda, which is how you can explain the entire series and its progression with very little problems. Here's Gametrailers two videos on the subject.

Part 1
Part 2

Now what are your theories on split timelines, and do you think its possible that OUR world has something like this, where various events split off into two seperate universes?

yah this was discussed a long time ago, I wonder where Twilight Princess and Phantom Hourglass stands now that both games are out

Well Phantom Hourglass is obviously a sequel to Wind Waker, so I'm putting it in Universe B.

Twilight Princess is a little bit harder to place though, honestly. I'm pretty sure that it comes right after Majora's Mask, which means there is no Hero of Time, and the Four Swords can pick right up.

Mm, well I used to be a firm believer of the singluar time line. There's simply a generation of links and zeldas.

I havent played a lot of the GBA Zeldas so I have no idea where the series has gone.

Miyamoto has pretty much confirmed that there are more or less different timelines (although he hasn't said whether each adventure is supposed to exist singularly or chronologically along the timeline), and apparently there's some huge document at Nintendo outlining how all the adventures and characters tie into one another. I've seen some fansites try to outline the chronology though, and it gets ugly pretty fast.
