I didn't think it would split into 3 timelines.

Main Timeline
1. Skyward Sword
2. Minish Cap
3. Four Swords
4. Ocarina Of Time

Split 1: Link defeats Ganon - childhood branch
a) Majora's Mask
b) Twilight Princess
c) Four Swords Adventures

Split 2: Link defeats Ganon - adult branch
a) Wind Waker
b) Phantom Hourglass
c) Spirit Tracks

Split 3: Link fails in Ocarina Of Time
a) A Link To The Past
b) Oracles
c) Link's Awakening
d) The Legend Of Zelda
e) The Legend Of Zelda II

I read about that somewhere, but I've never been a hardcore Zelda fan to dwell on that.

Still, it's hard to believe that the latest games like Skyward Sword or Minish Cap (it's a pretty late game in the Advanced generation, up there with Four Swords), would be so early in the timeline.

So...that makes the original, the very first Legend of Zelda, the latest Zelda? That's crazy.

I still love how Wind Waker is it's own timeline, though. It's personally one of my favorites.

It's not official but it makes a little sense to me.

The timeline splits into three just like the triforce. The Majoras mask branch is about Link, and Gannon and Zelda's appearance is that big in these games. The Wind waker Branch has more of a reliance on Zelda. The A link to the past branch is more about more about Gannon and his victory and take over of hyrule.
