The "Say Something Nice About Go-Onger" Thread!

?I love how people try to compare all this different series to each other. Go-Onger really isnt like anything else thats come, except maybe Carranger. I've heard people compare Go-Onger to Carranger in a lot of ways, mainly because it DOESNT TAKE ITSELF SERIOUSLY.

Its a goofy series and it knows its a goofy series. If it doesnt take itself seriously, why should you?

I think the problem is that some people just don't find what Go-Onger was trying to do funny. I did, but I know a few who didn't.

I think Carranger has the advantage that people now view it through a nice nostalgia-tinted lens. It didn't suffer from the merchandise flooding that Go-onger did, and Red Racer, although hot-tempered/abrasive is closer to the "tough guy" type of Red that people like. Whereas Go-on Red is very hyper so not many people liked him.

That said, I like Go-onger. It was witty enough, Kenji Ebisawa is hot, and it did do its serious moments well - the "Sosuke's Death" arc, the episode where Hiroto freaks out after Miu is injured, and the one where they go to Blue's family hotel are all examples.

An OK Sentai series.

It may be goofy and over the top, but it did have a solid story and good character development.

That's the thing, there characters were already developed from the get-go. lol

Hiroto/Miu/Gunpei weren't' stuck up at the beginning? granted not the most obvious development (On par with Dekaranger IMO) but at least they each had their moments.

meh, I still think the first half (until GP25) was good, but I stopped caring when I started watching the second half.
Sosuke's "death", Hiroto-going-berserk-because-Miu-got-injured and "everybody except the main team dies" arcs were the only awesome ones during the second half of the series.

My bad for not specifying, but I meant the core team. Hiro and Miu did go through some changes, sense they were blunt hard-asses in the beginning.

Is that last part worth watching at all?

Yes. Considering all that's happened, you'll be asking why this didn't happen in the first place. Starts around the Christmas episode.

I'm curious, can't people here enjoy a mostly-goofy series? It seems either serious or goofy/serious is more accepted. Go-onger isn't devoid of character moments, bit more than the ones mentioned.
