THE OVERRATED MOVIE THREAD

Sorry for giving you a bitch fit about this.
Actually I believe Prometheus falls under underrated:redface2:
Sure most of the characters were underdevelop, but the alien that appeared at the end was very different.
Plus the movie was about the Space Jockeys, NOT the Aliens!!!!

no one cares...the movie was a letdown...moving on...

Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory is undoubtedly one of the greatest children's movies ever produced. Unfortunately, while Tim Burton and Johnny Depp are two of the most talented people in Hollywood, they butchered a masterpiece with a remake that's supposedly more faithful to the original book.

Like Obi-Wan said (about something else altogether), this is very much "a certain point of view". In my experience, people who've never read the book(s) tend to think it's good, and people who have tend to drift towards the view that it's a mediocre adaptation (in part because the book was one of those "instant classics of children's literature" and the film ignores or outright replaces large sections of it). However I see a lot more praise for the Wilder version than Depp's, to the point where I'd say it's the other way around, with the first being over-hyped and the second under-appreciated. Personally I can't stand the Gene Wilder version (though Depp's is far from flawless too), but if you enjoyed it then more power to ya.
